I've never come across a historical instance of this happening, but in an emergency I'm sure it could be done.

I'm also using the RFB mod, and have noticed the extended range of the S-18 class (patrol dec 1941). Although I didn't get 16K, at 9 knots maximum range of boat at standard was showing 8600. I was curious about this aswell.
