Couldnt you have just blown ballast and surface? or were DDs too close by?

Coulda, shoulda.. woulda blown ballast had i known my death was imminent, but by the time i reacted, it was far too late. once i pass 215 i ordered faster speed and shallow waters, i probly coulda blown the ballast and surfaced and crashed dove again and survived with some damage. But by that time, my screen started to flicker, and the game locked up for a few minutes.. i knew at that point my boat was being crushed.

I guess i didnt realize it was still only 1940, and i've had no problems evading destroyers at even 80m.

I realize, next time after any damage whatsoever i should keep it way above 200, i shouldnt need that type of depth until.. well.. atleast another year or so

I still need to report a D.I.D card, i dont really know how tho?
