In 1.5 UBM the radar activates automatically when you surface.

Default It does?

Are we talking about the same radar here. I have the UBM (1.5) with TMO and RSRD and I have to physically switch on the radar (surface search) when I surface. I look up from the bridge and click 'R' and watch the antenna start spinning or I use the command buttons but either way I have to switch it on after surfacing every time. The air search is automatic but not the surface search.

i use ubm v1.5 and for me when i use the ";" key to go to snorkel depth or radar depth (whichever you choose to call it) the radar is on as soon as it gets above water but when surfacing it only comes on when i turn it on.

In the un-modded game, radar comes on every time you surface. There's probably an "exception" in the configuration file that allows a modder to change the setting. All you need do is find that change ... and change it back!

have this problem all the time...especially with the U-boat. Not once did my radar detect a ship! my watch crew was calling out the contact and my radar didn't show anything!!

Actually Webster if you find out what is causing that behaviour please post it here, because I'm interested on it The thing is, I don't want my crew to switch the radar on until I tell them so, as it can give away my position. In real fleet boats on patrol, radar was used sparingly in areas where enemy escorts and aircraft were present, and even when making radar scans around the boat, the bearing of known enemy bases was many times skipped to prevent counterdetection. I prefer to use my radar that way also

Again, in stock 1.5 and TMO the radar turns on automatically as soon as you surface. I really liked that change in 1.5 over 1.4 because I was always forgetting to turn it on.

this is a purely an uneducated guess because i havent even looked into it and wouldnt know where to even start looking for automatically executed orders or actions.

maybe its tied to the snorkel depth order which also turns it on too, does it still activate on its own if you go to radar depth manually?
