At the moment yes..
However, there are a few bright lights on the far horizon. Maybe we shall see them one day. |

@ BH Nuke Until then, I guess this will keep me pretty busy.
![]() I'm gonna wait till I've looked it all over and try everything before I post my shopping list of questions. ![]() |

There's a couple of well-documented walkthroughs for the tutorial missions (the ones included in the demo) that are well worth running through a few times to really understand and get the most of the systems (the MH60 tut and the Kilo shallow water tut). Difficult sim to get a grip on, but satisfying when you do.

I feel the same way. If it wasn't a challenge it wouldn't be any fun.

If you come from SH3 then you are already well used to many of the aspects from the late war diesel electrics, mainly snorkel, accoustic torpedoes, etc. so I would recommend you to start with the Kilo. Granted, it's a challenge because of its poorer performance and weaponry, but it will allow you to learn the new sonar and plotting technique without needing to pay much attention to other new stuff. The sonar also resembles much more what you were used to from SH3, with its circular display (More intuitive than the cascade display on US subs, but not as effective)
You can also start with a nuclear, but that will add some complication with the towed array and its influence in the sonar display (course change moves all contacts, duplicated signal -mirrored-, etc.) So my hint is: One step (New thing to learn) at a time: 1.-Go for the Kilo, learn the new sonar there 2.-Jump to the Akula where you can learn the towed array peculiarities 3.-Now go for a US sub, prefereably the 688i, and learn how to use the cascade display 4.-Go for the helo and learn to fly 5.-Go for the P3 6.-Go for the frigate Oh, and get LWAMI 3.09, it will fix many bugs and annoyancies as well as improve gameplay a lot and add some nice looking 3D models.

Yeah, it's a pity the Frigate is such a difficult platform to master, because it's the one i think most people want to try ASAP and then possibly get all tied up. I know I felt the same way and couldn't nut out the plot.
I even part-made a FFG tutorial that introduced getting under way, launching and retrieving helos and then attacking targets with the main gun and other armament. And for the MH-60 tut I did this AAR at SimHQ you might be interested in. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.ph...ml#Post2565259 smith |
