What a tragic story.
for the time being i am giving them the benefit of the doubt.

from sources i have read, "several years ago" she attempted suicide at the range... it is entirely possible that most of the staff and management that were present "several years ago" are no longer working for the range... and it is entirely possible that those individuals working there on the day in question had no earthly idea who she was. this assumption of course depends on yoru definition of "several years ago".

back in 2005 we had a rental pilot show up at a flight school where i had worked, i was not present at the time as it was my day off, but our dispatcher, being new, rented the man the airplane after verifying that he was on file as a renter.

however, had the dispatcher actually opened the file he would have seen the full page warning which said "DO NOT RENT TO THIS INDIVIDUAL" as the man had operated one of our aircraft in a reckless and careless manner just a few years before.

the dispatcher - being unaware of the policy against the man - rented the man the plane.

this resulted in a procedure change in our dispatch procedure and fortunately nothing more.

however, you can see that this can be an easy mistake to make... perhaps her physical appearance had changed enough in "several years" that they either didnt recognize her - or nobody present on the job that day was aware of the suicide attempt some time back.

Those are all good points

I guess the moral of the story is to know really really well who you take to the gun range and don't allow anyone to stand behind you.

Crikey

Hopefully, no one will take this as a reason to start a whole 'nother argument on gun control. Some things are just freak incidents.

Still, I am really confused by all this.

Well........watching the clip and it possible that the mother couldn't cope with the cost of living since the US has already been succumbed to the global financial crisis I believe the budget might be to tight to cope, and I thought she might wanna pull the trigger and it to easy to get a gun at the shooting gun club even her son doesn't know what she has planning behind closed doors.

I could wrong about this

Sigh...

"I cant pay my utility bill, food stamps have run out, my house is being foreclosed on.... I know Ill blow my son's brains out!"

Obviously some mental instability involved here. People in such a state will always find a 'motive'.

Lets not try to make it out that the economic situation in the US is so dire that folks are killing themselves.

You know this and others are heading right for that SW. The economy made me do it. Well, no, the economy in some way offered up an excuse for killing or somehow in their already twisted mind is the reason they killed.
