Default RFB Torpedo's

I was wondering if it would be possible to copy RFB's torpedo files over to use on stock SH4. I want to take advantage of RFB's realistic torpedo performance while using stock and was kinda iffy in case this would cause bugs with the stock files. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Well easiest way to find out is to make a map and place the files there and make it JSGME enabled.
If you get into any trouble you can allways disable your tweak mod

Yeah, was just hoping someone else would have tried this before and would give me fair warning before i did it lol. I just love stock game but would love some realism tweaks like torpedo performance and sub performance without it being a "supermod" that changes everything lol.

Just copy over Torpedoes_US.sim, and you should be good to go.

Hehe You are like me then I tweak some files from the super mods so it fits my liking. I also want some realism but also the fun from it as a game.

If i dont recall wrong there was a guy in sh3 that wanted pure hardcore realism and he didnt use the time compression. I think he gave up after some days

Well i use TMO + RSRD + OPmonsun+ latest Envoroment as major mods then a bunch of other smaller mods.

And i tweak some files for my self. Its the zone.cfg file so the ships and aircrafts have little less HP. Its more like back to stock on thos values.
I hate to shoot 2000 rounds on an aircraft whit out it go down

I also have tweaked the airstrike.cfg file a bit so i get lesser aircrafts.
And the sensors.cfg so the enemy have a bit harder to spot me.

And some grapichal tweaks for the subs so they sit lower in the water and roll a bit more. i want to be able to get seasick hehe.

So il guess il do the opposit than you. I use the larger mods but restore/change some values to my liking

Iam also working on a mod whit longer wake for the ships and subs.
It was more that i didnt like the short wakes the ship had but it turned out to be a major rework cuz i have to go through every ship and make a test mission and test them one by one.

But i start to se the light in the tunnel now for that mod and i think i will release it if anyone want it

So far ive done 135 ships and i have the submarines left and about 40 ships.
Iam trying to make it so it will be compatible whit most of the mods.

Really nice, i'm kinda *borrowing* some of RFB's tweaks and changes for more realism. I know it seems kinda wierd, i mean, why don't i just use RFB right? But i'm looking for a RFB "light" i guess you can say, realism operation or performance wise (sub performance, radar performance and operation, etc) without the graphical changes. I guess cause my comp runs stock best lol. I would like to see that mod of yours if you decide to release it, better be getting a pm if you do .

Yeah i will release it, and perhaps there is some that want it
The more mod we have to choose from, the better it is so people can get thier tweaked game as they like it. Freedom and choice

I will try to have it ready to the weekend as long i dont run into any problem.

Back when SH3 was still young I was using some of the files from RUB (the original Real U-Boat), the campaign files from the original Grey Wolves, and several other add-on mods. Confusing, but it worked for me.

Actually several people have done 1x patrols, and continue to do so. GoldenRivet did one a few months back, when he had some free time. Said he loved it!

I've also changed some things with the German torpedoes, but more can likely be done. The German torpedoes are a little more complicated, because they had times where the magnetic detonator was enabled, then disabled, then enabled again, and so forth. IIRC the biggest thing I touched on the German torps for RFB was the dud rate and severity of depth-control errors. The file for these torpedoes is Torpedo.sim.

Big thanks for the info Luke, ever thought of releasing these kinds of things as sort of a "RFB light" type of mod. Just sub, ordinance and sensors settings for stock?

Not really. It would mean supporting one more mod that I wouldn't really have an interest in supporting.

Well, it was worth a try anyway, gonna go try putting in the torpedo sim changes and hope that no problems arise.
