I lol'd
EA has been churning out a lot of bollocks, to say the least. Is he predicting his own bankruptcy?

I think that EA going bust is probably the best thing that could happen to the gaming industry at this point, actually...

Although EA has many very poorly produced games, I long for their return to the MLB Baseball franchise.
2kSports is producing ****. And because they have the exlusive license I am left with purchasing ****. Last made a purchase of EA's MLB 2004, and that was a gem, in many ways superior to the MLB 2k9 that I just bought. But heck it was 5 years between games . . . so I just sucked it up, enjoyed the wii controls, and keeped on keeping on. Even in fantasy land do the Padres suck.

I still havent forgiven EA for not letting me have NFL Head Coach 09, but still releasing Madden over here.
But, as long as EA still has its major cash-cows (The Sims, movie licenses, American sport licenses) then its going to be around and producing second rate rubbish for a considerable amount of time. I think this guy is worried that independent developers might make a game that is actually better than the horseshat EA churns out, and ends up selling it at a price hugely reduced from EA's (frankly extortionate) $50 pricetag. For me, I hope the NFL will come to its senses and award the licensing rights to someone who knows how to make a good game, and will put the time and effort into making it.

Oh wow that article is funny coming from EA, creativity and genuine innovation. When has EA done either really? EA is infamous for buying up other game companies that have creativity and genuine innovation then making them put out the same old slop before firing everyone and rolling the company into itself. I can also see why EA is worried about rifraff giving away junk games.. Junk is EA's major market share.

The quality of racing sims improved in a huge way after EA/Sierra/Ubisoft got out of the business. Indie developers took it over and started producing superb games.
In a lot of cases the Indie folks were the same developers who had been making games for the big studios, but now that they didn't have somebody pulling their strings they made much better games. |

While it's just an opinion. I'd like to see the Indies take the big game companys down a notch or two.
I know I'm gonna get hell from the big U fanboys but after the fiasco with SH4 and getting personally screwed by Ubisoft. I now buy their games from the big E bargain bin and donate to Neal with a clear conscience. |

EA is evil, just the most basic example that comes to mind:
Anyone ever play Crysis? Ever noticed how you can't skip that first company logo loading screen from EA, but you can skip the second from Crytek no problem? So what did EA do for it? Publish it. What did Crytek do? Just make the whole darn game. It's like they're saying they played the biggest part in the development. Frankly I find that kind of behaviour outrageous. ![]() Independent studios make games for the love of them, earn some cash on the side to finance future projects, make them even better. Big companies are there to earn money. Period. ![]()
