I hope future naval sims include currents to some degree. A one knot side current adds up to a fairly large course deviation for a ship traveling at 10 knots (like 6 degrees). Over a thousand mile passage, that puts the ship 100 nm of course. No small error.

Didn't Leo simulate currents and drifting in his early work of "Living Breathing Ocean"?
