As for me, I've been playing exceedingly sparingly for over 30 years (maybe 1 or 2 matches a year). My late dad first taught me at about 7. To this day, I know very little theory and tend to make things up as I go. I enjoy the game more as a study of how predictable I can be when I am trying to be otherwise. More often, I prefer to actually play accomplished players who I have no chance against just as a learning experience. What about you? |

Been playing for about six years, learned in the back of a history class in high school. Only became "serious" after a few games on here last year. Like you I know very little theory, but prefer to review my games and look at databases to see where I went wrong or right.
