During my one career in the Med the flyboys were beating me to ships! I didn't send any contact reports, but several times just as I was setting up my shot either submerged or on the surface they would show up and blow the ship out of the water!

Those were probably already scripted in but the Med is so small that there should be a greater chance because of the reduced range needed.

As pointed out earlier...sighting an air attack on merchants is few and far between.
