Not any harder than any other sub. Keltos was talking about doing the Sen Taka. The Sen Toku is in the game but not playable. I made it playable but it was my first mod and it is on the Pacific side not the uboat side. I was planning to make a campaign for it but that got switched to the Uboat side so now I have to convert it. The other sub I don't know anything about, but if you can do 3D, it can be done.

speaking of big subs, has anyone seen this yet? its a late WW1 monster sub.

why bother setting gyro angle when you have torpedo tube turrets.
(they destroyed nearly everything about it, a keel was never laid for one but they were making preparations to build some when germany surrendered)

Sen Taka : None made operational patrols.

but interresting because of the said underwater speed. also : the hull shape was to shape the US fleet boats for years to come, this model had retractable guns which can't be implemented ingame (the game doesn't really use the hull's characteristics does it ?)

Keltos

for the surcouf, I've seen blueprints on the web somewhere...

Project 50! Is very, very good boat in plans!

It's second variant submarine. And continue U-142 type.

But in German was laid dawn submarine with armed 2 210mm + 4 88mm guns.
In you plans 4 150mm guns only.

Haha, Surcouf would be interesting. I really want a good WWI subsim, maybe with some K boats hehe.

Hi Turbografx,
You do realise that Surcouf was a WW2 boat? She came over to us as Free French Navy but is reputed to have been a renegade, hence the sinking by our own forces. Because of her size and armament she was used as a convoy escort but it was noticed that convoys she sailed with always lost ships and she used torpedoes. The story is that a British communications rating, carried because of the language barrier, worked out what was happening and sent a signal, and the next time she surfaced an American freighter rammed her, he of course giving up his own life. I don't know how true this is but when I joined the British submarine service, soon after the war it appeared to be common knowledge amongst the wartime veterans.

Yes, sorry for the confusion, my WWI sim comment was completely separate from my interest in Surcouf. However, it was inspired from the fact that she was the result of the WWI interest in"cruiser" submarines.

Yeah, I tried the game out. Some of those out there who have tried it may agree with my opinion, if you are "historically conscious with the realism". Poor graphics, lacking a realistic "gritty" look of the submarine patrols in the Atlantic during WWI. I am hoping to see a WWI subsim along the lines of the Silent Hunter engine.
