Default help!, torpedoes not loading

after firing all my fore tubes, sometimes none of them will load. i will assign a full torpedo room, with a torpedoman, so my meter is full, but all the loading tubes just say "waiting in queue for loading." i understand they wont load in silent running, but this will happen on the surface. i try to shift the torpedoes in the tubes, check off auto loading, but nothing seems to work, any ideas?

Hover your pointer over each torp
One may have a different message such as not enough crew in stern torpedo room - even though you are loading the bow

And no definately wont load in silent running

It doesn't matter if you are on the surface with diesels running full-bore: If you are in "silent running" mode, they won't reload the tubes.

Welcome aboard brendan.....what version of the game are you playing and what mods if any do you have installed.

You are sure the green bar extends across the length of the screen. :hmm:

i got v. 1.4 out of the box a couple months ago, haven't tried to mod it yet. i didn't think about the silent running thing, i'll try that. right now though i'm submerged directly underneath a convoy, so the destroyers can't get in too close. if i go to all stop and turn off silent run do they normally load?

Well, do you have any torpedoes at all? Loading them underneath destroyers is just asking for a depth charging.

Doesn't matter if you're running at flank speed or you're fully stopped, torpedomen will load as long as you're secured from Silent Running and have torpedoes. Also helps if they're alive.

That said, as Super Market pointed out, loading underneath escorts is asking for trouble.

an old silent hunter 2 trick i learned was to sit directly under merchants in a convoy so the escorts can't run right over you. course i haven't tried this in sh3, this is the first convoy i've run into so far. and yeah, i won't be able to stay under there forever, but maybe at least till i can hit a couple more merchants

Default Torpedo won't load

Playing a GWX3.0 patrol in Jan'42 in the Irish Sea, 7th flot out of St. N, I took down a small freighter with a Type II out of the stern tube, loaded the eternal torpedo into reserve and there it sat. The Tube 5 was grayed-out and I couldn't get it to load, with a full crew in both torpedo rooms, including an officer and at least two NCO's in each room.
I do have malfunctions and sabotage enabled in CMDR. :hmm:

Were you surfaced? And if you were, how was the weather? I'm guessing you know about silent running

The external reserved torpedo loaded into the internal reserve and sat there until the end of the patrol, during silent running, secure from silent running, running submerged and on the surface, in good weather and bad. As mentioned, the signal light was grayed out and stayed that way.
I wonder if it were a malfunction induced by CMDR. Has anybody else encountered this?
