Default Buggerific!

Well, it seems my GWX install has imploded on itself or something. To start off, my list of mods. (In order, as best as I can remember... I just unloaded all of the addons for GWX)

GWX 3.0 +
GWX - Captain America's Officer Icons
GWX - Enhanced Damage Effects
GWX - Lite Harbor Traffic
GWX - Main movie - 'Das Boot'
GWX - No Medals on Crew
GWX 3 St Naz and Schluese and other units
GWX - Grey Tails & Colored Warship
[And from here the order may or may not be correct]
Lifeboats & Debris (v4)
Submarine Icons (My own creation, just changes the GWX compass-submarine-icon-thing when you zoom in back to the default sub marker)
Thomsen's Sound Pack v3.2
No RING RING Mod by Melendir (Because I hate ringing noises)
Community Units
Torpedo Fixes (Basically adjusts the wakes for steam and electrics)
LRT v2.02 Final with SRM
Sergbuto's Camera Mod
and CapZap's blue menu screens

Now then. Basically, today SH3 started the whole CTD-while-loading-patrol business again, and I'm not really sure why. After ending a patrol and exiting the game I decided to swap the camera mod and LRT around. (LRT canceled out the camera mod, and I like to sit in the captain's bed and sway) That's when the CTD buggery started up, although previously it also would happen if I had the Waterstreams/Exhaust kombimod 1.0 enabled.

So after playing around with the mod order to no avail, I decided to just dump all the addons and see if barebones GWX would work. Now SH3 just crashes while loading the main menu, so I have no idea if that's fixed the patrol CTD issue.

Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas, or if I've just somehow screwed up GWX so badly that only a complete reinstall will fix this. Hopefully that all makes some sense and I haven't just confused you all as well.

At the moment I'm running another install of SH3/GWX, maybe I can compare a clean install to my current one.

Or I might just skip that and copy my career over. :hmm:

White Penguin.

The problem does not reside with the GWX mod... but with your installation and the mod-soup instead. Too many conflicting files there.

1) Go back to bare-bones GWX.

2) Delete the "SH3" folder in "My Documents"

3) Try to run a career again.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to uninstall SH3 altogether USING THE GAME DISK to ensure that all traces of SH3 are whiped out, manuall delete all remaining GWX files from your PC in the Ubisoft directory... and rebuild your installation from scratch.

1) Went back to barebones... Crash to desktop everytime it loads up the game...

2) ... So I renamed the game folder in My Documents (Wanted to save my career if possible) ...

3) ... And still nothing. Kinda hard to run a career when you can't even get the main menu.

I guess it's time to swap over to my new install and get rid of the old one. I tested the clean install with the included 'GWX-approved' mods I used and Rubini's grey tails mod enabled, no problems. I guess I'll have to cut back on the [cool] junk I throw into my install.

Anyways, thanks for the help. Hopefully I can keep this particular install afloat longer than the others...
