I'm not sure what you mean by this. Did you mean accepting party?

Could be August. I'm not too versed in those type of investigations. If someone offers said amount for a "favor" or such and is caught prior to the actual benefit from becoming reality, is it actually accepting? Not being a arsch or anything. But I will use that wording so we can all stay on the same page.

The interesting name that is being bandied about for the 'pay to play' is a son of a certain local reverand, who likes to rhyme in prime time.

And to the Kevin Smith fan, I wanted to say that originally, but wanted to keep Onkiel Neal off my aft.

I just wanted to be sure what you meant.

I'd think that anyone who offered to pay a crooked official in return for a "favor"might open themselves up to a charge of attempted bribery, no?

The investigation has been going on for more than three years. The FBI said they ended it early to keep the sale of the senate seat from going through.

All the more reason to continue with the investigation to see who the prospective "buyer" would have been. Two birds with one stone...

I call horse manure.... I'm beginning to believe that this would have gone a lot farther up than anyone would want it to go. Our politicos are tied really close together. Graft is the only political party we have in Chicago, C(r)ook county and Illinois. Yes, Ryan was part of the GOP, but the lure of cash was too great for him to be any different. It sickens me to no end. What I'm really scared of is that our new POTUS moves Pat Fitzgerald before he can truely clean this cesspool up.

Just for the record, Blago is still the governor and he can still appoint the senate seat while he is still able to. He will not quit.

More speculation from this amateur pundit, since I'm batting a thousand: look for the man who was arrested at the same time as Blago to turn around and become the USA's #1 witness against the entire Chicago Machine. A lot of people will go down for this one and it would not surprise me is the SCOTUS will have to get involved after all is said and done.

Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune is now speculating that none other than the President-elect's soon to be chief of staff RE. I am not sure right now.

I'll throw out a few things that kind of make ya go 'hmmmm'.....

1. The media has stated that Valerie Jarrett was BHO's choice to succeed him.
BTW Ms. Jarrett is the Chairman of the same board that MO is also
salaried member, University of Chicago Medical Center (Hospital) see prior post.
Another small tidbit, Ms. Jarrett was Mayor Daley's deputy chief of staff who hired a Michelle Robinson to work for the city. Michelle was engaged at the time. Valerie has been on Daley's good side, getting a city paycheck till 2005. I will not rehash her role in BHO's campaign or transition team.

2. Media speculation after BHO's win was that RE would be the logical choice for the vacant senate seat. A Democrat who has a spotless rep in Illinois (sounds like a contradiction, see; hasn't been caught) and can campaign well enough to hold the seat when the election rolled around. Wouldn't happen though because BHO immediately tabbed him to be COS.

My problem with the 1st scenario is this: why would BHO throw his wife's friend/benefactor under the bus. If RE was approached for the purpose of quid pro quo, why not use RE to further the investo igation. Looks better if his camp helped to promote change. Jarrett would come out smelling like a rose.

You and me would see it that way, but will the USAO see it that way also? I think that there may be a bit of kindling there because JJ jr's mouth piece confirmed that his client is potential senator #5...... I will hit this up when I hear anything more.
