See, this what I mean. I dont mind guns, but dont give them to children. It's one accident/misfire/ricochet and your child's dead you wont get him/her back.

Nothing wrong with teaching them young. But be responsible about it. Don't give them something they can't handle. From the time I was 8 years old I had .22 bolt action rifle that put Christmas goose on the table. My grams liked not having all the pellets from birdshot like my coudsins used to bring over. I would pop off 3 or 4 of them with head shots while they were on the ground at the riverside, and it was easy cleaning and prepping.

But huntig put a lot of food on the table in my younger days, so safe practices were strickedly taught. And from that not once in 33 years have I been around or seen a mishap while on the hunt. But to give an Uzi to a kid is stupid.

I concur, and one of the last things we need are machine guns...

I grew up surrounded by people who'd learned to handle a firearm well before they were teenagers. All survived until adulthood without shooting themselves. Now, I, personally am not letting my 8 year old kid fire a notoriously uncontrollable weapon. I might buy him or her their own .22 and teach them to operate and handle it safely.

In fact, I believe it's better to teach such things at a young age, simply to make sure safe firearms practices becomes second nature. Most people I've met that did stupid things with guns never picked one up until they were an adolescent.

Actually, my problem is that you & Subman1 come with your white horses, charging to any thread that comes even close to offending "america's freedom". We all can have our differences, but it seems that no matter it is, you and Submand1 defend America, be it Hiroshima, accidental bombing of 200 innocent civilians etc. I've never seen you two say "Ok, maybe that wasnt that ok." You always come in as "******* hell, they're future insurgents anywho, good for them!

Dont get me wrong here, since kid I've wanted to live in America. But the attitude of some of you is like some of the teens I see here:

"What happened on 9/11?"
"Ummm.. New years eve?"

You just care for yourself, the fock with the rest, aslong as US is doing good right? I'm hopinf Obama will get you guys to bow down abit more. Be abit more humble. You're not the king of the world, no one thinks like that anymore. Me and many more think that you guys went too far and are now focked (Iraq). So, we just watch from the stands as you fight yourself out of the mess you caused. Got popcorn too.

And no, that' not a joker in my avatar nor sig. But what has my Avatar or sig has to do with this? Ran out of arguments?

I'm a liberal, and fight the right wingers here in America all the time. I'm very anti war. The reality is that the Iraq war costs around 1% of our GDP. It's a big disaster, but frankly we can afford to screw up all we want. If you think the Iraq disaster will make us crumble like Rome, that's a stretch. Our economic mess currently isn't linked to Iraq, maybe karmically if you want to go there but not mathematically.

Also what you have to remember about Iraq is that it doesn't have to be "won" to be a "win". What that means is we have learned a long drawn out losing war is more profitable than a wam bam thank you mam fast conflict. Desert Storm was too short to be profitable. America fights wars for profit, well everyone does actually back through recorded history.

So in closing, yes our power will wax and wane, but cheerlead all you want for our "downfall", because it's going to take some time.

As for this (and this not aimed at you subchaser) I dont hold any kind of political stance. I think that's one of the problems with America, elections are like civil war to you. I've never seen it anywhere like that, you play it dirty, reaaaally dirty.

As for the downfall part, if you continue like that, you will get one. No one likes to see one "bully" on the schoolyard for long. Trust me, if you go on, there will be strikes far worse than 9/11 aimed at you.

It's funny really, most of the european ppl seem to realise that you just get the more enemies the longer you stay in Iraq & Afghanistan. Bush just keeps giving more money to the military (prolly to pay for more soldiers whim have died in this stupid war).

And Finnish (NON-tabloid) magazine just had a report from Iraq, from the civilian POV and they were ******* pissed, they had no power, no water, anything. There was no fighting in the area, still, they were living poorlier as when S. Hussein was in power.

The war in Iraq was not for the people. America could care less about the Iraqi's. We want that oil, period. That's just the propaganda saying we were "liberating" the Iraqi's. Who cares if they have food or water, they are probably not even human, I bet they don't even feel pain

European whining over American dominance is nothing new. Let's get back on topic. Gun ownership. Tell me, you think millions would have died in the holocaust if everyone had a gun? Not even big guns. Small arms only. I think things would have been a LOT different had all the jews and undesirables been armed. I'm not saying no one would have been put on a train, but the Germans would not have been able to kill so many so fast if they had to have a firefight everytime them went into a neighboorhood.

Think about that.

Ran out of arguments? I didn't know i was arguing with you. You're awfully touchy for someone who likes to tell other folks that they're "sick".

So who is in the avatar and sig anyways, or are you afraid to say?

It is not a movie villian that you suggested he worshipped. I believe that might have touched off the def-con 2 button.
