Default Map of Victories - (DIAL-UP WARNING!)

Well, I finally figured out how to plot my victories onto a map, and it looks pretty cool if I do say so myself - my current (and most successful) Kaleun's victories are shown on the map below - 115 ships sunk in 22 patrols through September 1943, for a total of 566,397 tons so far:

Unfortunately, no matter what I've done to it the image is still a pretty large file (or else the quality goes to crap), so I hope you can see it. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a place to host this that let's you see it and zoom in at decent quality yet, so you can't get the full effect of how it looks on my PC, but you get the idea - each ship icon is marked with the patrol number, and it's a fun little record of one's adventures on the high seas If you want to see it in it's full "glory" so you can zoom around and stuff, you can download the image here:

Now I just need to get a good print out of this, "suitable for framing"

Care to share how you plotted all of that?

Bah, stupid vapidstare.de, can't save the file from it because of the way it's cached.

It was actually a lot easier that I expected, once I got started. All it took was a little time and patience. First, since I couldn't see the sunken ship map marker in the game's file, I just drew one using Paintshop Pro - the file I used can be found here (it's not great, but it gets the idea across):

http://rapidshare.de/files/34172759/Sunken_Ship_Map_Icon.psp.html

That file is still in .psp format - I found when I converted it to .jpg it looked pretty crappy, so I kept it in .psp format while I worked with it.

Then, I took the map I use to determine whether the game's patrol grid assignment for my next patrol is reasonable or whether I want to change it with SH3 Commander (unfortunately, I can't find/remember where I downloaded that map, so I can't give credit to the original source of the map file, but I've uploaded it here in case anyone doesn't already have one they can start with: http://rapidshare.de/files/34174012/U-Boat_Patrol_Grids_Map.jpg.html ), and just started pasting copies of the sunken ship marker into the grid squares where my Kaleun's Personnel File from SH3 Commander had logged where I had sunk all my victims. I just kept changing the number at the bottom of the sunken ship icon so I could designate which sinkings were from which patrol, and kept pasting copies until I was done. Things got a little tight in some of the squares where I had lots of successes, but in the end it seemed to work out OK.

Been wanting to do this for some time - amazing how simple it turned out to be
