Hi All,
Russian combat cameramen with NewsAnna have been shooting some amazing video in Syria. Using multiple camera angles and Go Pro's mounted on Tanks. The best combat footage I've ever seen, worth checking out. *CC button for English subtitles works RPG vs BMP Tank vs RPG Tank assault Last edited by tmccarthy; 01-26-14 at 03:14 AM. Didn't know that tracked vehicles could still function with just one track on.
![]() That BMP struck the pavement that seemed to break the left track which caused it to fail. Not sure though, I'm sure there's people here with more knowledge about such things. ![]() Still, it continued on a little while with a missing track before coming to a halt, and being towed away. |

Turrets on those T-72s traverse pretty damn fast, faster than I thought they did.
It does look like the BMPs track broke on hitting the edge of the pavement, like the reporter said it was probably already damaged by the RPG. Impressive that it managed to carry on so far with only one track. Russia stronk. ![]() I think this is one of my favourite bits of Syrian footage: On a more serious note, this footage is pretty spectacular, the way the tank brews up, but not just that, you can see the commander thrown clear just as the first flame shoots out of the hatch, and then as he runs for cover on the right hand side of the screen bullets ricochete off the wall behind him. One very lucky guy. I wonder if his luck has still held or whether he too is now a casualty of war. |

They can still move but can't steer very well. If the track came off that easily, it either was poor design or a poor repair made prior to the engagement. ![]()

The number one enemy of military equipment is crappy maintenance even if it is a Russian vehicle.A tracked vehicle can throw a tread very easily.A true taker has no problem getting filthy all part of the job.
Looking at the first video the track popped as he drove over the curb which implies a crap job of keeping the track maintained.I agree with Wolferz they over tightened one of those treads and POP! I suspect that no RPG hit that BMP.(the one that threw the track) Tracks are actually sections of tread some what like a chain and each section is connected. Here is how its done if you do that improperly or craptasticly sections of tread will have very high likelihood of getting thrown in conditions that should not normally throw them. actually they are also replacing rubber pads but still you must do it properly or you'll have a problem at the least convenient juncture. Looking at the second video i see why things are such a stale mate seems like every combatant stands behind a hole and waits for the other guy to run out freaking WWI on steroids. @Oberon fast turret movement...Yeah fast enough to take a 120mm sabot.....ba dum tiss. ![]() It sure blew the engine cover open.I think they run a V-6 diesel in the BMPs. I think that HEAT round exploded too soon. Here is what a proper HEAT round from an RPG looks. One hole with radial marks from the back of the device. ![]() Lucky day for the BMP. Ah in the video it says shaped charge IED that makes much more sense. "Наступление на север. Часть 4.2 Контратака. Подрыв БМП. Northward attack. Part 4.2. Counter-attack. IFV hit by a shaped charge IED." So it was not an RPG it was a poorly designed or timed IED. I have seen videos of T-72s getting taken out by IEDs so they get it right sometimes. Personally as an insurgent force I'd go after the supply chain without fuel the T-72 is useless I'd destroy the fuel dumps and kill the mechanics the best way to win is to fight dirty. That idea has been common knowledge for a very long time death by 1,000 cuts nothing new at all classic guerrilla warfare or given the situation in Syria the whole thing is asymmetric the fact that the opposition has lasted this long means that they are playing by my rules.
Additionally I could care less about Assad. |

Here it is... attack on "rear" / assembly area followed by some armor/IFV close combat.
