Default Is it worth it?

I lost interest with SH5 when it was released to such dismal reviews but I hear that the game has gotten better,is this because of MODS or game patches?
Would it be worth buying the game now and if so what MODS would you guys recommend using..

Thanks

It's gotten better because of mods.

Check out sober's mega mod for the best ones

are you really asking if a game you can buy for $10 is worth it?

YES

just dont buy it from steam whatever you do and it would be best to get the game on disk

I totally understand your not wanting to buy SH5. I held out a year and a half after release just to be sure most of the issues would be worked out (while also waiting to buy a better computer). I felt burned with 10 month build up to SH3...to be disappointed. Skipped on SH4....then promised I'd wait at least a month or two after release to decide to get the game based on UBI's slightly negative rep (but hey, they are the only ones who build these sims anymore).

Bottom line.....Some would argue SH3 is better game play with GWX mod. SH5 def looks better and to me is just as good with extensive personalized modding (gone are the days of the super mod apparently).....the Open Horizons II and the TDW User Interface Mod are must haves IMHO. Like Webster said ...def worth more than $10 if you Mod this game.

I would also buy SH5! However, mainly because of the possibility of wolfpacks! Can the new AI U-boats attack independently, dive and shoot torpedoes?

I couldn't wait to get this game when it first came out. After been late to discover SH3 and the GW's I could see the potential for it and started playing. Now I was NOT very good at playing it but even so.....HUGE disapointment after SH3, gamewise. Looks great to start with but then just seems to highlight the limitations of my computer, programming etc. Things like no wet weather gear etc start to irritate.BTW- do you still have to connect with Ubsoft ?
Having said that....I just love the idea of having a go at being a U boot captain. I stopped playing SH5 and 3 a long time ago but watch this space ALL the time. Waiting for the day when once again I'll be able to set sail in the 1XC for American shores. It will happen again one day thanks to the great work being done here and you don't need me to list them all do you ?
In the mean time I've read the odd book about U-boats, the latest been " U-boats Attack!" By Jak P. Mallmann Showell. I get the impression that things were a lot less comfortable for the U-boat almost right from the start than even I imagined. Only very good or brave or lucky U-boats ever sank anything it seems and 90% of the time were in a vast seemingly empty ocean or on the defencive.Coping with mechanical breakdowns etc was a large part of it as well don't forget. Very frustrating ! Now, I like to think the game is as realisitic as possible and I think most of you guys out there do as well so I really think to make it more playable the crew are going to have to start acting and thinking for themselves a bit more. The idea of the captain been able to sleep and know the boat is in good hands would be a good start.Personally I would be just as happy to let the 1WO organise the torpedos where appropriate as well but with realistic time delays etc. I hope those sorts of changes will be doable as well?
In the meantime I wait AND watch. Thanks guys our brilliant!!
