Oct of '39 and patrolling the east coast. I never go over 128 tc however the air cover is on me very quickly.
Too early for radar so what to do? Is it best just to stay submerged during daylight or is there another tactic? ![]() tnxs. |

What east coast? If the UK as I think, then you could stay surfaced. They carry no external bombs or torpedos at this time and are just out on patrol. Tho they can and probably will radio your position for surface ships to intercept you.
I've seen the Brit's air patrols often. But I'm not close to shore, so they could probably fire on me with guns if I was.... but haven't. I show no flag of any kind and they just pass overhead and go on their merry way. They're probably in a hurry to finish their patrol and get back for a spot o' tea. I do change course tho and get out of the area as fast as I can. Works so far. But don't try it as the war progresses and those Yanks get involved. ![]()

I was on the surface and at 128 tc. The crew spotted the plane and I went to crash dive with a tc of 1. They didn't drop any bombs but did strafe me and wounded two. A few things were damaged but repaired in short order. The hull took a 10% hit. As mentioned I think I'll stay below during daylight. On a side note, just checked your profile and see that you have a 66 goat. Nice. The 66 is my all time favorite muscle car. Black on black convertible with a 389 and tri power would be my dream car. I never was a big fan of the Mustang but I did have a soft spot for the Mach 1. Liked the 68 Charger as well (Steve McQueen in Bullet). If we only knew back then to start hording we'd all be rich. When the first energy crunch hit you couldn't give these cars away. |

OK, I see now. You're running OHII, that's the difference. I'm not, just SH5 v1.2 and mods. I've not been straffed by any Allied aircraft.
Yep, 66 GTOs are all I've ever had. 3 of them over the years. Totaled the first one by rolling it over an April snowbank in 1970 up in NY on the Canadian border. Only had the 2nd one for 3 months and sold it. Went 35 years before getting this one....... ![]()
