Default WW2 Weekend 2009

This years WW2 Weekend is completed. I have a few videos and pictures. There was one very special plane that was flown and one I would never have imagined seeing operate.....Super Marine Spitfire! What a sweet bird and she could fly....FAST! She is absolutely beautiful and has some of the most graceful lines. The British really created a one of a kind in the Spitfires. There is a video link below to see her operate. After she shuts down there is a huge round of applause as you will not see this at every show or see this bird at all!

My daughter got to take a good looking over of this warbird!

Note: we were getting in some representation of the submarines at the show. USS Torsk 423

AND SOME VIDEO OF THIS BIRD(click link):

I will add some more pictures of WW2 Weekend tomorrow as I'm tired and a bit burnt from the sun....I used sun block

That's totally cool. I wish they'd do something like that out here on that scale. I've been to a WW2 re-enactment (which was interesting). All of the German re-enactors were doing SS units. unfortunatly for them, a holocost survivor was in attendance, and spat on them, then gave them a piece of her mind.

I can understand that to some degree. I do not recall any SS units. They re-enacted a D-Day invasion which was cool.

Thanks! It is such a fun day and the reason is you are right in there with the plane operating and talking with the pilots/owners. It really is something and the first time I went (last year) I was completely blown away. Not for the fact that I was finally seeing these planes operate but being able to stand right up on them feeling the prop wash and smelling the high octane aviation fuel burn. All the pilots are just as friendly as can be and love to share their joy with you. The hospitality is incredible. I do my best when on the Torsk with visitors to make them feel at home and glad they decided to tour the Torsk. It just makes them want to come back or tell a friend to make a visit.
