Default [rel]w_clear Environment 4 mod (sobers edition)

This is for patch 1.5 or patch 1.4
Back to basics
Here is an edition of w_clears environment mod with the beautiful colors . It has the stock SH4 1.4 patch scene.dat with a more realistic sea speed . You will get spotting ranges which are pretty good . (the only mods i use are RSRDC for stock and green button mod) .
If you find the waves too big and the sub going under too often then refer this

So just to be sure, this is for 1.4 only? Also, what do you mean by "realistic sea speed"? I haven't tried the mod yet, but was wondering how the mod affected sea speed:hmm:

Its only the scene dat and some graphics and a couple of other files . Should work with 1.4 or 1.5 . Install while in port and enable with JSGME . It seems to me the devs got the environment right in patch 1.4 . in This adds w_clears colours . The waves speed has been slowed down to a more realistic speed especially when looking thru the scope . cheers sober out .

Does this fix the light shafts issue, too? I am currently using w_clear's version with the modified shaft files that enable underwater shafts, but eliminate or reduce the night sky side-effects.

Also, did you change the visual range of the crew in fog, so that if I see a ship they can see a ship?

Not sure about the light shafts being fixed, but according to what Sober wrote in the beginning of this thread, spotting visability by the crew has been improved

I have noticed a slight fps boost in good weather. Will be interested to see what it does in rain and fog. In general, I have noticed less bad weather since loading Sober's version, but I don't know if he edited the bad weather frequency or if the game just hasn't given me any, lately. Last night was clear sailing for 2 hours of game play.

Okay, my experience with rough seas and bad weather isn't so good. Seems to eat fps up more than w_clear's version. Waves are HUGE and it's just about impossible to see anything through the scopes at periscope depth in rough weather. Even at 12 meters I don't see the target about 80% of the time. Also, I think that the waves need to be sped up a little.

I still think that the weather needs to be toned down for the Pacific, in general. Other than the occasional typhoon and even rarer tsunami, I doubt that the Pacific is as violent as portrayed in the game.
