Default New Player with a couple of Questions

Hi all, recently got SH III and I love it. Just wondered though, I downloaded and added the U Boats in the Med add on. Also downloaded Seawolves, but got told I cannot use both. Is this correct?

Also, what about the Greywolves download. What's this like and what does it do extra.

Finally, how do I know what version I have of SH III. Where does it tell you what version you are running. I ask this for patches etc. Many thanks in advance.

Also, I mush stop trying to attack destroyers when they are heading straight for me!

Hi CorkyCl, and welcome!

Can't comment on the first few questions, but can tell you that the version number of SH3 appears on the opening menu in the bottom right corner.

GWX (Grey Wolves Expansion) is an 'uber-patch that adds lots of new functions to SH3 to bump up the realism, primarily tweaking the AI levels to make enemy destroyers etc much tougher and realistic. However, best I leave the explanations to those who've actually put the thing together. If you download it, it's best to install over a fresh install of SH3 patched to the latest version (currently 1.4b I believe) that has not been modded in anyway. You'll also find a GWX manual included with the downloaded files.

Remember, go for the freighters and hide from the escorts. Don't waste torpedoes on battleships when there are fat juicy tankers just beyond them! I don't think I've ever sunk a warship...

Corky, did you have any problems with the intro movie? When I start SH3 I get horizontal pink and green snowy lines! LOL

Maybe it's just my graphic card, but I had to remove the intro file, then the game runs as normal.

Welcome aboard, Kaleun CorkyCl.

If you download GWX1.03, you don't need the Med mod.

Look on the lower right corner of opening screen to see what version of SHIII you have.

For tactics and other useful advice, read the articles in my Kielman webbie. GWX comes with a terrific manual.

Hi and welcome aboard. You should also be able to identify what version you are running by right clicking on the SH3 icon for the game in the folder in which it is installed. Select 'properties' from the drop down menu which will appear, and look at the info on the window which pops up, you my have to select a different tab up at the top of that window to see the version info.

First of all Welcome to SubSim

My suggestion is to try GWX. The Med mod and all others are nothing in comparison. If you want to have a look at what GWX can do for you have a look at the manual here http://files.filefront.com/GWX+MANUA.../fileinfo.html. If you like what you see then click on the link under my signature to get the 5 bin files and the executables to install it.

If you have any problems/questions just give us a shout
