Default Can Anyone Tell Me If This Is To Light For A Moon less Night?

Can Anyone Tell Me If This Is To Light For A Moon less Night?

Clear sky , stars twinkling but there is no moon to be seen, I looked every where and there was no moon. Yet just look how the crew are lit up, is this the correct light for just stars and no moon.?

just in case you though the sun was coming up astern of us..

Should it not be a lot darker with no moon ?

I cannot tell if you've boosted the gamma in the options. Also, the lighting will stay pretty bright for 1 hour before sunup and 1 hour after sundown, then it will get darker quite quickly.

My theory is simple, during night time portions if you dont have to turn off the lights to play or hide under a blanket during the day, then your gamma is too high. You should have difficulty making out the horizon. Dark distant objects should blend in well with the dark sea and similar dark sky.

If the target between you and the moon you shoul dbe hoping to make out the silhouette against objects behind it that are softly illuminated, if you are between the target and moon, you'll be looking for those surfaces facing the moon that are softly illuminated. A full moon shoul dsoften the blackness of teh sky, allowing it to be more of a dark, ashy gray making it a bit easier to distinguish the horizon.

As far as I can tell on my screen...its too bright for dead of night and no moon.

I agree 100% with Nattydread. A moonless night should be dark, very very dark.

I've been enjoying gamma set to 55-60% on a Display with norm to cool bightness/temps... Also use a Red Night light from Sportys pilot shop facing down on the Keyboard, adds to the immersion and helps the eyes. Only thing is I wish the entire HUD/TDC was red illuminated or green too. It's hard searching the horizon with your nose to the screen and having that bright TDC glow in your eye's ( so I hit NUM+DEL ) to remove it until ready for a firing solution.

Looks good to me. My gamma was to low and I could see nothing at all. I attempted to keep it as dark as possible for some realism but not to dark where there is no enjoyment.

I like PPF so much I dropped some of the sliders to get back the FPS. Play around with it. I also dropped the 3D waves for the 3D wakes. THis helped my FPS. It took me about a day to get the graphics to where I like it and FPS was good.

Sliders at 1/2
3D wave checked
Glare on the sides of boat checked
High quality ship textures checked
I have EE off until the monolith of death is fixed

I have post on as well but sometimes moonless nights are brighter than nights when the moon is up. Just one of these things that make you go hmmm...

lol sorry but i'd much prefer the devs to fix bugs than how dark the night is.

It's a pain in the arse trying to shoot down aircraft in Garr class when the AA turret armor is blocking my sight when I move left or right

edit..found fix for gun canopy. Thx Ducimus!!

There is a very big difference between lighting without the post effects on and with. Next time you think its too light and you have the effects off turn em on and take another look.
