Sitting I the man cave looking for a book I'd earlier archived and suddenly heard the unmistakeable sound of the throaty roar of multiple Rolls-Royce Merlin engines approaching.
Looked out the window and there they were taking up position over the house and lining up with the Tyne River to begin their approach to Newcastle Airport....The Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane of the Battle of Britain Memorial flight. Probably stopping at Newcastle overnight in preparation for the Sunderland Airshow tomorrow. I wasn't quick enough to grab my camera from the room next door but they were at least twice as close as they are in this recent shot I took whilst at RAF Waddington. ![]() |
