Oh, I'm not afraid. I was just refering to an incident along those lines I was involved in not too long ago.

On crew animation.

People have complained about the crew sitting on the swofa while boat is flooding.

During emergencies, the captain's place is in the control room in command of his boat, not running around elswhere. So when the action comes, you won't see the goof offs.

And that's a problem. As far as ive heard, no improved details on the simulation, (this was a submarine simulation right?) but it sure does look beautiful doesn't it!

Hop to it Mr, you'll have a lot of work ahead of you! After working your normal job, plan on getting only 5 to 6 hours a sleep a day at best, and devoting all of your time (including weekends) towards a second unpaid job. Don't let us down, we're all counting on you!

I certainly agree with that (see my 1st post in this thread). But that's a different message than "don't complain when there are things much worst on earth".

I see the one you're speaking about.
Well, I didn't read that one as a complain, but as a joke, personally.

I had to read this about 3 times.... it is by Brag.. and it contains faint praise of SHV (and no DRM talk).... Neal, can you check if Brag's account has been hacked?

Ah, another thread whining about people whining. Hypocrisy, don't you just love it!

So your saying in other words " I'm out for myself. Screw others that don't have what I have ".
No, I'm not. I still think UBI's DRM implementation sucks, and understand completely why some folks are mightily pissed off at them. But that doesn't take away from the fact of said DRM mechanism most likely working transparently enough for me, and that combined with what I've increasingly come to view as a good and novel approach to simulating a sub skipper's duties, chores and life on patrol in the game is what has made me reconsider my position.

But I'd still like to see them drop that stupid DRM thing for the benefit of all, of course

PS. @Steve: yeah, complaining about the DRM system isn't whining per se, true that.

Well now that you mention it the alleged better moddability of the game compared to its predecessors _is_ indeed a selling point for me. But to make a 2nd unpaid job out of it? I'm sorry, Sir, but that's out of the question because I've no time whatsoever for end-user support I'm afraid...

But one can always tinker nevertheless, can one not? And maybe even release something small later on, good or bad

I will surely buy sh5, that`s for sure.

I just don`t understand why people like you do this. Do you really think people will stop because you say so? Do people listen when you walk into a room and tell them all to stop talking? NO.

So why do you expect it to work here? I guess it just makes you feel better to have a lomg thread responding to your ineffectual whine cos I can guarantee that NO ONE has done as you have wanted.

Oh, and in case I haven't mentioned it I'd much rather see, say, DftD developing into a killer subsim than having to endure what commercial actors release. It's just that DftD isn't quite there yet...

Hallelujah!

I've noted a few times that the "pessimists" (or realists, depending on your perspective), whine about the game, whereas the "optimists" (or romanticists, depending on your perspective) whine about the people whining about the game. And what's worse, it's the latter group that tend to become the most likely to start personal attacks and name calling for anyone and everyone who doesn't agree with them (this thread for instance - everyone who has expressed a negative opinion on the game is now a whiner, at least according to java's revenge. And according to others we're also retards, drama queens, liars, short sighted, ADHD idiots, sex depraved, life depraved, penny pinchers and so on).

So, java's revenge and others, I counter your whine with one of my own: how about you stop whining about the whiners whining about the game? (or shall I start this as a new thread? Seems the rage lately?).
