Heh. Don't be shy. In my experience, whenever my little frigate got ordered out from Norfolk to go get beat up in deep blue for a week or so, you Coasties got to have fun in the shallower water plucking the numbskulls off their doomed pleasure craft. We Navy pukes thought you guys had quite a pair. Still do.

Looks like the track has been revised. North Carolina looks set to get the brunt of it...which is a kicker because myself and the other half have a friend in NC and she lives near the coast and the current track puts it heading right over her.

Dammit...

One of my fond memories from Subsim was Neal's constant running reports from when Ike hit Houston in 2008. Then at the meet we helped clean up the Seawolf Park.

Boy, oh boy, though AVG, you're going to have your hands full when that tidal surge pushes up the Chesapeake, not mention maybe 13-14 inches of rain. I like the idea of the marine battery for the sump pump. Smart idea.
What a minute... if you wife is like mine she is the authority!!!

I have a battery back up on my sump. If the electricity is off there is a secondary pump that will not empty the sump but keep the surface from spilling over. A good deep cycle battery can run the secondary pump for 20 hours or so. This saves a flooded basement. I have been there and done that already. Ain't fun.....

I worked that storm with FEMA as well. (Katrina was my first) I had trucks parked in the dome. These trucks were loaded with water. I advised Neal if he needed anything I knew where MRE and water were located. Connections baby.

Well fellers....FEMA has advise the flood gates are opening. With the direction change of the storm each state from NC up to Maine are being treated as potential disaster areas. The next 5 days + will prove extremely busy for me and sleep will be a fond memory...

If you run out of room you can store a few pallets in my basement. It's guaranteed to stay dry.

Working at a grocery store here, so I guess I'll just bag myself into exhaustion and have no desire to live when the storm actually hits. Keep on buying $200 worth of frozen dinners, folks - can't have too many of those when the power goes out!

Here in North Virginia, where we just "survived" the earthquake, it was demonstrated that the citizens are incapable of evacuating Washington DC.

I hope the hurricane moves a bit more out to sea. If a real disaster ever hit DC, they are .. well the forum rules prevent me from typing it.
