Edit: Ok, some more stuff for the to-do list. After some close examination and fiddling with the .eqp files, it seems that UBI doesn't have all it's assets done. Destroyers with depth charges have Japanese sailors manning them, even if the ship is allied. Same thing with some of the guns. When I have the time I'll try to change some of the Jap skins and make some Dutch sailors (Jantjes). Also, thanks to bigbobwooly (thanks for that link man!) I've managed to clone an s18 and use it for a KVIII class placeholder. The only thing that I haven't managed to get a placeholder for is a plane, but I'm sure those'll come along soon enough. I'll also make the mod JSGME compatible as per request. Last edited by L3TUC3; 04-15-07 at 06:15 AM. |

They also flew Brewster Buffaloes. Not sure if that's in the OOB for SH4 as I haven't checked yet. But the first campaign I did in Il-2: 1946 (admittedly picked at random) was flying for the KNIL from Sumatra in a Buffalo. Did a quick look and found this article too:

I have seen no indication of anything of interest for this mod being included by UBI at a later date save for the Catalina (the skin texture is in there somewhere). Thanks for the heads up on the Buffaloes, those indeed flew around the Indies. I'm going to Holland after my semester here is done and I'm going to visit the Navy museum and the KNIL veterans home to see if I can dig up some neat stuff. I should be able to get some technical drawings of the ships at least. |

Peewee noticed that Java is erroneously spelled Jawa in the game. I've hacked up a quick fix for him and others interested until I'm finished with v0.3. This fix will be included with v0.3.
Here's the deal: Code:
Javafix This little mod fixes the naming error made by UBIsoft and renames Jawa Sea and Jawa to their proper names Java Sea and Java on the world map. Files modified: Campaign_NMS.mis Files Added: I_Java.dds N_JavaSea.dds Install notes JSGME: Extract the Javafix to the mods folder and enable the mod. Install notes non-JSGME: Extract the Data folder in the Javafix folder to your Silent Hunter 4 folder. Alternatively in case this mod is somehow incompatible with another, follow these steps: 1. Extract the I_Java.dds and N_JavaSea.dds to the Data\Terrain\Locationsmap folders. 2. Open data\Campaigns\Campaign\Campaign_NMS.mis with a text editor such as notepad or wordpad. 3. Replace I_Jawa.dds with I_Java.dds in Maplocation 47 4. Replace N_JawaSea.dds with N_JavaSea.dds in Maplocation 60 Have fun! -L3TUC3 |

Jawa is correct. It`s an old name for Java.

So far 0.2 seems to be compatible with the 1.2 patch. Please post if you find anything broken.
A little update: It turns out that the US fighter is in fact a Buffalo Brewster, the very same one the KNIL Air Corps flew. I'm modifying the texture on it right now to have the right camouflage and markings. I should finish it tonight. It's not very pretty though, but a start. ![]() Last edited by L3TUC3; 04-18-07 at 05:48 AM. |

Great job on trying to get the Dutch sailors the attention they deserve. ![]() Mind you, apart from the K- and O-boats, the Dutch used one British T-class sub during WWII. HNlMS Zwaardvisch (ex-HMS Talent) sunk U-168 off the north coast of Java on 6 October 1944. I suppose it will be easier to find a T-class sub on SHIII than a K- or O-boat. Best regards, Leon Homburg.

For Duch aircraft skins, look here: http://www.1java.org/index.php
These guys do a lot for Il-2 KNIL stuff (there was even a CW-21 done for Il-2, dunno if we'll ever see it though). tater |

"Tromp" was completed in 1938, not 1940; "Jacob van Heemskerck" escaped to Britain in an incomplete condition in May 1940 and was completed there. Since fire control equipment was not available she was completed with ten 4-inch AA guns as main armament. "Tromp" took part in the Battle of Badoeng Strait and received damage which necessitated her repair in Australia, so she was the only major Dutch warship to survive the NEI campaign. "Heemskerck" was in the Indian Ocean and was ordered to proceed to Colombo instead when Java's fall became imminent.
The "Admiralen" class destroyers were developments of the British "Ambuscade" (as were all British destroyers of the "A" to "I" class so perhaps it is possible to modify an early war British destroyer model from SH3? They carried six torpedo tubes rather than eight, and differed in AA armament. The first group of four had two 75mm AA guns, the second four had two twin 40mm AA mounts. "Van Galen (II)" and "Tjerk Hiddesz" were Royal Navy "N" class so they could be transferred from SH3 without any mods (use "J" class destroyer)- assuming, of course, that that would be (a) workable and (b) legal. |
