I agree the engine repaired message might be deceptive unless we learn for sure if there is a work-round of not. From a game design standpoint, since there are no differencial engines, nor can they be cross-connected, it makes sense when an engine on one side goes out, both sides go out. Unless the game was recoded to enable single side propulsion, this is a feature that is not going to go away.

Best oto restore a save game and not make the bad decisions that resulted in the unrepairable damage.

In real life, both diesel and electric motors that have been flooded with salt water can be restored to service if there is no other damage (have done so myself)........ so it should be possible in the sim as well, given time.

I get this damage result FAR more often in 1.3 than earlier patches.

Am I the only one?

Agreed, I hope there is a 1.4 patch that will address this issue. Even if the engines were flooded, they or one could be brought on line through salavaging from others to make a good one. It would take a considerable amount of time for all motors to be render uselss unless they were completely blown apart. Diesel motors in that time could be re-sleeved, which I believe were possible at sea. The boats in those times had mediocre machine shops on them to do the basics and then some if required.

I know its a movie, but Das Boot really showed how the crew can work together, making something out of nothing.

Definitevelly there is some strange things...

Look at this screen shot from my last mission...

All my 8 motors was damaged, the 4 diesel and the 4 electric.

The #1 and 2 diesel, take damage together, they are the engines on the .upc file... they cant be repaired disregarding the time you expend on them.

The # 2 amd 3 diesel take damage separatelly, one have more damage than the other... they seems to be the engines on the zones.cfg file, but they doesnt works at surface.
With the #1 and 2 damaged no propulsion at all.

With electric happens some similar, the # 1 and 2 take damage separatelly, and the # 3 and 4 together...

There are some hidden link to items in this game... nothing works as it is souposed...

Same happen with the new patch, you touch some lines on the zones.cfg file for escorts and it make changes on battleships...

I wish they would use number identifiers for the Diesel and Electric Engines, how do you know which is 1,2,3,4?

Admiral Redwine,You understand perfectly. Also the domino effect is still very much in effect,if you try to use TC,in damaged state at depth over 100 ft.

Hi Donut... !

I reached to control de "domino" to an aceptable level.

I think so those are the most anoying bugs in the game.

1]
The DDs become "pocket battleships" and some BBs as Fuso and Kong become weak as "sampans" after patch v1.3.

Youc an hit many times the bow od some DDs as Fubuki...and nothing happens, plus a single shot can destroy a Kongo.

If you touch the compartements into zones.cfg file for DDs it cange the resistence of BBs...

2]
The port straboard items linked and taking damage together.

3]
The domino effect... i reach to reduce it to an aceptable level any way.

4]
The sinking DDs after raming your periscope... i reach to solve it, but then the "pocket battleships" DDs become more strong even...

Solving 1 and 2, the 4 is solved too... and the 3 may be reduced to an aceptable level...

Then if we can solve the 1 and 2, the game become perfect...

But it is a 3D probelm, DDs and BBs are linked/mixed... it is out of my skills...
