That's a good point.

Aren't the US boats mroe like the larger german ones like the IX series or D?
Actually, they're bigger than any German boats (Including IXDs)
Really?

I didn't know that. I thought they were somewhere inbetween the IX and D.

Yikes..

Default Yep! The US is compensating for something, Pearl Harbor

No merde. These are not little European economy cars for rush hour traffic in town. These are serious highway crusiers for long distance travel. 44 magnum boats.

Default And an ice cream machine

That would tend to make the crew look bigger though?

I disagree. In Ark's first 'SH4' shot the man at the deck gun's head is just about the same height compared with the later photo; that is, his head is just above the deck level for the AA gun mount. It looks okay to me.

Nothing scientific, just a casual observation--though the scale looks perfectly fine to me.

If your Ubisoft and your making a Subsim for the second time, I would think
that not checking the scale of things would be like driving your car in
reverse without looking back.

Scale looks fine to me.

Having been to the USS Cod I can personally say that the scale in the game looks right. Those conning towers are huge, a lot bigger than the german ones. I am 6 foot and the tower on the Cod is a cut down version as well and it is big. We Americans always make things bigger and better. Now if you excuse me I am going to go drive my big SUV around town and burn some fuel so I can create some global warming to get rid of the below average temperature and snow on the ground. On Monday in Cleveland it was 74 degrees F and nice and today it is 28 degrees F. By Wednesday the weather is supposed to be back up to 67 degrees F so I expect to get a cold or flu any time soon.

Remember, the USN was not under the type of ASW pressure that the Kriegsmarine was. For the Germans, the type VII was a balance of range and dive time capabilities. The IX's, however, were built for range, and had to assume the risk of a longer crash dive interval, which many of them paid for dearly. However, even running from the North Sea to the American Atlantic seaboard was not comparable to the range required of the Pacific War. Accordingly, boats had to be bigger, but largely, engine plants remained comparable to the Germans. As such, the navy's submarines were, like their Kriegsmarine counterparts, underpowered submersible torpedo boats. Don't expect them to handle like sports cars.
