Correct. Combatplanes "created" (although it sounds more like "compiled") the add-on and X1 is the publisher/distributor, at least in Europe (there's other distributors for other countries - ie Seawolves was distributed by Take 2 Interactive in Australia). The arrows should therefore really be aimed at combatplanes, not X1...unless people want to shoot arrows at all the other distributors as well?

But then Steffen Trombke and his many aliases did bring the X1 attack onto himself.

BTW, there may be an influx of Aussie noobs here soon as since 22 August, SH3 has been relegated to the "budget bin", costing a mere AU$20.

Over at simhq somebody talking for combat planes said they know nothing of trojans and they did not steal things just borrowed one model.

Btw, after I uninstalled the addon sh3 wouldnt work anymore and I had to re install the sim.Even reinstalling didnt help much as I was getting random restarts again and also some nfts.sys error (basically nfts.sys was causing some error). Any of u had nfts.sys errors ?

I went to the official symantec site and did the security check. It found a maccess trojan.all other avs reported nothing. Not sure where I caught that. I installed the sim again and patched it to 1.4b and played for 10 mins.no crash yet.

I wish I was.crashes were/are random and they happened even after one hour I was playing sh3.Once it even happened while I was saving the game because I had the feeling it would crash on me. I enter the name of the file and as i was hovering the mouse on the save box my pc restarted.what a pain. Do you know anything about this nfts.sys error ? It happened only when using sh3...

nfts.sys error ? Not ntfs (NTFS is one of the WinXP file system, You possibly know) ?

If "nfts" could be RAM memory or HardDisk, try google, too many possible answers.....

EDIT: "It happened only when using sh3..." - bad blocks on hard drive ? Mayby just coincidence...

Best Regards

stary,

EDIT: "It happened only when using sh3..." - bad blocks on hard drive ? Mayby just coincidence...

I would rule out coincidence. It happened again last night. I played 1 hour or so and then sh3 crashed my pc.I never had that prob ever.I scanned my pc with a few antiviruses and antispyware progs and ,now, I am clean or ( should be). I did a scandisk and all is fine.

The only thing I could think of now is this. I installed :coursesolver_sh3.zip,ail sky mod V2.rar and bearings.zip. Could those files have anything to do with my crashes ? No idea.

Any idea/help welcome

Ok, I'll say it if no 1 else will. Your SH3 and U-Boat: Battle in the Mediterranean problem, is this - "U-Boat: Battle in the Mediterranean" is the problem. I'm surprised it even installed let alone run!

To put it bluntly you have been RIP OFF! Good luck on getting a refund.

As to the NTFS errors and the Virus's you now seem to be suffering, if I didnt know any better I would have said that the damn U-Boat: Battle in the Mediterranean has some how realy suffed your PC up. It wouldn't surprise me tho, Ive had programs that on removal, all manner of crazy stuff happens (mostly with game demo's), from a bevy of virus's to Registery corruption and indeed the odd NTFS error. Some times the only solution is a format, but thats your last choice. I see that you have done all the normal bits as 1 would expect, I'd also do a reg fix and clean just to be sure and see how you go. If the damn thing still acts up you may indeed be looking at a format. 1 last thing tho. The best AV program I have ever found that detects and kills more virus's than I have ever seen any other AV program do, plus its comes with a written guarantee is NOD32. I cant recommend this program enough. I was an avid user of Nortons untill the day my PC would just not function correctly. I updated an ran Notrons for over several months trying to get it to work right, and it always gave my PC a clean bill of health, but I knew it was for from so. I looked around for a new AV program and I happend on an idea, I'd see what all the banks and big company's were using, it was NOD32. I paid for it online (good price too $70AU odd for 2 years) installed it and ran it. 463 virus detected and killed later I'm a happy chappy an so is my PC!

I have jv16 powertools and the registry gets cleaned every time my system restarts.I have Nod32.The av is light on resources and good in general but it did miss the maccess trojan .

I don't know if it is hard luck but ever since I installed ( and uninstalled) that darn addon My sh3 crashes my pc randomly.sometimes after 30 mins sometimes after one hour.thing is its annoying when ur well into a mission and u spent a lot of time on it.

My pc restarts only when I play sh3 tho.

Where on your system does the nfts.sys file reside?

Is it in system32 folder or elsewhere?

God, this is gettin' real ugly this time round!
First the shameless "borrowing" of Sergs and other Modders stuff...worser than the first time with Seawolves, and now the trojan.

I wonder why people even bothered to buy it!
I mean, everyone who frequents this boards here should know better!

Ok I expected a few people to buy the CD just to check it's real content! But that some folks bought it to play it, is simply sad!

Gah, how UBI stays so blind is an mystery

A, sorry that your problem is an excuse for a few to vent their dislike of Seawolves rather than your trouble.
Since I beta tested the Med (I have never had the first one) the only times I had CTD was when they would send new stuff too often and my install became somewhat patched.
Once they sent a new CD it all went fine. I have the new complete one now and have never had a Trojan Horse or a CTD.
I would suggest you try a new install with it patched to 1.4 then put only SW-Med in and see what happens.
Don't stop trying you will find it and what you learn will be a help to others down the road.
