I believe the easiest way is to donate a small amount to the site, but it is understendable that it is not for everyone. I believe with some posts, you can download 10 times a day.

your download clock starts and stops from the time you reached your limit so if that was 3:45pm yesterday then it will not reset until 4:00pm today since I think it takes a few extra minutes to reset.it is not based on the date but your own specific 24 hour clock

welcome aboard inmatejason; Send a smAll donation like I did to ( $5 in my case) which will increase your mod limit; For SHV, start with with Fifi or Sober's mod list for ease of immersion into the mod world! Then ask away on particular issues that arise; LOTS OF HELP HERE.

Welcome aboard! Downloads are tied to posting, so the more you post the more you can download. Also if you donate just $5 you get 25 mods per day, and more with larger donations.

Welcome on your first post. Find all mods in the SH5 mods workshop section. If you get stuck with SH5 mods, then ask in the SH5 mods workshop section and include a modlist.

I'm coming back to the fold after a few years break. I was in LOVE with SH3 and did some of the early editing on SH4 which most purists may not have liked... but I ditched the whole crew endurance issues and modded a bunch of upgrades.

I tried SH5 when it hit shelves. Prior to any mods or patches... I couldn't even get my guy up the dang ladder. It simply didn't work back then and the interface change was an affront to me so I scuttled the game.

Now I bought it again after losing or giving away the old one. Downloaded and installed it last night.

Initial impressions:
-Graphical additions to underwater and clouds are impressively cool
-Walking around the ship is a cool feature
-Walking around the ship should remain a FEATURE, not a requirement
-Looks like they add some scinematics.... interesting... but so far the characters are weak and don't really "fit" - I hope this doesn't get annoying
-Campaign "unlocks" ? Not pleased with this. If I want to jump into a scenario from the start, why can I not begin in 43 if I chose to?
-Torpedoes - granted, I only put 90 minutes into the game and did the first mission on Medium difficulty.... but why can I not better aim and set my fish? And why can we not play a campaign on a custom difficulty. I may wish to do manual plots for better damage/accuracy, but there are some settings which come with higher difficulties which do not fit my preferred gameplay style or dedication. This may become an issue.

---> MODS + FIXES -- is there an external host for the downloadable mods hosted on the forum here? I'll be honest, I want to try a lot of the options to improve gameplay but I am not going to come back here for the next 6 weeks hoping to get it to a point where I can enjoy the program. Just not going to happen. So why not host the whole mess on a file share server like every other file in the world? Will cost the site nothing and folks can get everything in one shot. <---

I realize you were talking about SH4, but on a related note to the SH5 mods workshop. Reworked Morale and Abilities, Equipment upgrades fix, Repaired Equipment MOD (R.E.M).

Patch 1.2 was released within a few months of game release. Use w,a,s,d keys. Is hatch open? Get your guy near ladder use w (up) key. Someone wrote a pictorial and text thread on how to proceed in the game in either one of the SH5 main or mods forums.

Use silentotto feature to go right to any campaign you want. I believe silentotto works with stock or modded game. Type "silentotto" without quotes anywhere when the main campaign window comes up. (Happy times or coastal waters is displayed. No dialogue box will show up BEFORE typing silentotto on your keyboard.)

Go to the SH5 mods workshop. Open Horizons campaign even better to 1945.

Because mods are constantly being updated. It is a continual team effort when all modders feel that the game is fixed as far as it can go, as we discover how to fix things more and more. Takes a long time to create a modpack that everyone, for the most part is happy with. Rongel's [WIP] Megamodpack

See how long SH3 and SH4 took to get to where they are now. Give us time for SH5.

For now try, [inf] sober's mega mod, My mod compilation by Fifi or Sjizzle's mod compilation.

Will try the megamods, yes.

I'm hoping to begin the modding process with SH5 now that it is at least stable.

Does it have, or is there a mod available, which offers to identify the targeted ship or make use of an in-game booklet to self-identify ships?

Mod #1... I need to get that periscope view centered in the screen, lol, not off to the right.

SOAN or SOAN feature in Multiple UIs for TDC. If you do NOT have the STEAM version, get TDW's generic patcher.

Hmmm, yes.... further reading of the megamods has revealed that my having the STEAM version is a hindrance. Going to order another copy.

Does the digital copy of the SH5 Gold straight from Ubi work fine with the .exe patchers?

Is there a mod compilation or mod which includes shortcut buttons to quickly get to different posts in the ship? I know SH V is not III but walking around becomes cumbersome when you have a purpose and are not just staring at pretty graphics to pass the time.

Neither. I usually transport myself to the radio/radar station almost at the midpoint of the sub. Go through the hatch to the command room which I consider midpoint of the sub. There the engineer, navigator and XO are closest to the radioman then coming from the bosun's direction.

No matter how you move arond the boat in SH5 you do need to coverse with the crew members you can converse with. It increases their moral which in turn makes the boat run better.

And lIke everyone else has said, the only way to play SH5 is with mods installed. You can pick and choose which to play, but know too that you do need to install them in the correct order.... as in Sober's mega mod list. And yes there are still bugs even with mods installed, but at least the simulation is playable, where it's not without mods.

MegaMods.... where can I, ahem, find one to download? I went to Rongel's link above and read up on his combined works. It sounds good, but when I go to the Downloads section the MegaMods list is empty.
