boy they get when you even hint that it is fake.

I had some of my troops in the military like this. WWF was serious business. When wrestlemania came to town, a bunch of them told me that they would take leave or go awol to see it.

wrestling, just like everything else, deals with conflict in its story line
but unlike certain books, movies, operas, comics, etc

you see tough guys fight it out in wrestling
and people of all ages, political orientation, sexual orientation, etc love that

imagine political debates if the politicians fought it out, than political debates will become as popular as wrestling

I think a more apt comparison isn't to athletes or politicians, but to musicians. You would praise a heavy metal rocker for his instrumental chops, and I don't think you'd ever go after him for, you know, learning his songs. Or say that the songs are easier to play just because he knows them by heart.

BTW, I don't care one bit for wrestling as such. Never got to it. But I recognize that hey, it's a show, and some people might be quite into that. Some people don't get heavy metal either, and it doesn't make it any less awesome

If they truly fought it out....maybe, pretending to hit each other wouldn't work, I would want politicians to bring guns to the debate.

Sure why not? Maybe they could decide elections this way too...

Gives a whole new meaning to the 'last man standing' match!
