The End of U-17's adventures.
I timed it with SH3 commander to to leave port and get near Dunkirk in time for the great migration. When I "flew overhead" the port there in f12 I found a place loaded with fat troop ships & liners--perfect for a IIA harbor raid ![]() ![]() ![]() After diving I realized I "jumped out of the frying pan into the Fire": ![]() If negotiating a mine field & dealing with 5 DD's wasn't enough-the RAF decided to join in on the fun: ![]() After what seemed like ages I finally was able to get away by constant turning my tail to them on silent running. As I watched them circle & depthcharge away about 5.000 ft away I was thinking to myself "thank god for the early war sensor ratings". After gloating a little--I jumped up to 128 tc to pass the time as a silently sailed away. My navigator & weatherman forgot to remind me that we were in dead calm seas of only abot 40 meters ![]() ![]() Landing at my final resting place: ![]() And a quick fade to black & the far traveling Canoe came to an end: ![]() But as a saving grace my Exec was transferred right befor this & knowing he shared my ambition to tavel through the Med to the Indian Ocean--there still might just be a IIA "monsun" boat yet.
