Its actually about October of 1939...Prien may not have even made his attempt at Scapa Flow yet, so I might actually have a chance to beat him to the punch.

I like my chances for not getting detected just fine up until i punch some holes in Rodney's hull, but after that im guessing its gonna get REAL hairy.

Would this be the right moment to mention AVG's 2 patrols and your dead club?:hmm:

I can feel with you.

The BdU sent me for my 3rd patrol (Type VIIC) from St.Nazaire to grid AM66, that's the Solway Firth near the North Channel in the Irish Sea (NE of the Isle of Man).

It's April 1944. No snorkel. No idea where the minefields are. Guess I'm dead meat.

I'm sailing off this evening and since yesterday I'm thinking and planning on ways on how I get in and out alive, I love this game.

Cheers and good luck,
AndyW

I believe you are correct! This is a perfect time for the swashbuckler attitude that gets me dead all the time. I have a hot prospect for the new Commander of 2PYDC.

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=107445

He is wet behind the ears. The ears get that way by going to the bottom for a long rest Look, two sinkings. Likes to play in the channel. He has got a good resume going!!!

What draws people to sail into shallow waters in a submarine? The lemming syndrome? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well, I made it into the harbor pretty alright, had to sink that trawler that i was shadowing when he made a long loop and ended up behind me and getting curious as to what that large grey piece of metal was sticking out of the water. I've never used a torp on anything so small before...heh heh...that sucker lifted right out of the water.

Amazingly, I expected all Hell to break loose at this point.

Im waiting....

Slowly, slowly making my way along.

Nothing, not a plane, not a destroyer...nada.

I make it to the anchorage about 0100 hours...and the HMS Rodney is NOT there.... stinking Luftwaffe can't identify targets for cr*p...or...what the?!?

Emerging from the fog...no...it cant be...

HMS Hood, riding gracefully at anchor, completely blacked out. Oblivious.

and a little ways off of her bow...

HMS Nelson, equally darkened, equally quiet.

it was at this point that i faced a dilemma as never before in this game...

oh screw it, opened tubes 1,2,3 and nailed the Hood just forward of her bridge, all eels hitting within a few meters of each other.

Kaboom, she gushes flame and smoke and starts to settle to the bottom of the Firth.

My men are busy reloading as i hurry to get into position on the Nelson...still no response and its almost twenty minutes later when im shooting tubes 2,3,4 into the fuel compartment of the Nelson, and then im headed for the door.

On the way out, i hit a mine, and barely save the boat, then limp away finally making it back to Wilhelmshaven 5 days later..

I got both of them suckers.
Other than being lucky, how come all hell didnt come down on my head?
