question :

If according to Bethesda : "For Fallout 3’s copy protection on PC, we use the same security model as we did for Oblivion - a simple disc check. We only use SecuRom’s disc check functionality for copy protection" , why the choice of using Securom that is also known for some side effect regarding performance and compatibility ?

For "simple" cd check there are way simpler copy protections that have none of those side effects, do not install "services" and drivers, and more importantly for a publisher cost a lot less than the latest Securom software contracts.

Anyways, despite i was looking forward to get it one day, it is now one more game i just added to my boycott list.

It's so stupid to boycott games just because they have copy protection. Soon you won't have anything to play.

I boycott DRM, hidden drivers/services and rootkits based copy protection, maybe you don't know but there are lot of other copy protections than these kind of POS.
And i doubt you judging my choice as being stupid will make me change my mind

In other news..

I've heard that Empire Total War will force you to install Steam, even on the physical DVD version. Complete with "phone home" installation requirement and that crap running in the background.

Looks like another game just dropped off my list due to DRM.
