Okay, go on and throw the first stone while sitting in a glass house. I know two other cases from the US like this:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7485910.stm

Recently, there was a thread on crimes being carried out in the presence of witnesses who did not help, and this example is not a bit different. A society where people live whom are so indifferent like to be seen here should have other worries than mocking about the health system of it's neighbours.

This seems like a typical liberal view to me. How, exactly can this be fixed? Pass a law that people have to care? I have no doubt that most people are most inclined to whatever action benefits them most. The key is harnessing that power through incentive. You can't legislate morality any more than you can legislate stupidity.
Tragic as it is, there will always be a$$holes.

QUOTE: - from that article
Six people have since been fired or suspended as a result of the incident, including security staff and members of the medical staff.

Apathy like that should not be tolerated. Yes, you can make people care by putting their very job on the line.

There are incompetent twats in all professions, in all countries. Pointing to one of them while jumping up and down screaming about how it's an indicator of a failed system is just childish. It might impress people, but to change peoples' minds you'd have to do some boring research and come up with statistics and facts that covered a bit more than... one case.

I'd tell someone to tell Spamman1 to read up on statistics showing US health care to be mediocre compared to many other first-world countries in the world, many of which have socialized health care... but I don't think he'd listen, so I digress.

Watch this movie meanwhile.
