Kids all through the 1950s and '60s held transistor radios to their heads, and seem to have survived. On the other hand, my cell phone time is very low, so I guess I don't have to worry as much. Unless, like smoking, it only takes once if you have the right genes.

Ha, its complete bull, you get a higher dose of EM radiation from watching (CRT) tv for 1hour than you would from a lifetime of cell phone use.

Most of the hoo ha about cell phone radiation comes from the media. People hear the word radiation and immediatly think Chernobyl, the simple fact is the human race had been surrounded by natural electromagnmetic radiation for thousands of years and we have survived this long.

If you worried about every little thing you would end up as one of those nut jobs that wallpapers their home with tin-foil or wears a tin-foil hat to block EM signals

Thanks for the hoo ha, which actualy helps nothing. As far as I know the energy that is transmitted by cell phones does not compare to man made all-environment-radiation, but is much higher, also, the phone being the origin of it, in the immediate vicinity of the cellphone it is foucssed, or better concentrated. - A lasers energy may be harmless if its energy is used to transmit in a 360° arc or even in a round sphere -focussing the energy all into one needle-thin beam can burn your eyes, or even your skin. - Anyone here with real professional insight? the author of the study does not seem to be an unknowing dilletant, and seem to have earned plenty of medical and academic reputation. And as I pointed out by memory, french and Canadian studies aimed at the same direction even in the late 80s and early 90s. They are just aiming against a very strong business lobby, obviously.

EM is not a single thing that can be generalized about... if EM is so harmless.. try sticking your head in a microwave oven!
Some frequencies are proven harmfull.. some are pretty much proven benign.
I really dont know if cell phones are harmfull.. doesnt seem so unreasonable that they could be..

Of course my opinion could be biased because of exposure to certain EM pulses.. ie. I watched alot of 3-Stooges when I was young!

Or think of Radar. i vaguely remember that an incredible high number of maintenance crews for German and american SAM radar batteries stationed in germany, from the 70s and 80s suffered cancer in the lower abdomen and genitals. and this althoigh the system until today officially are rated as "safe". My memory pops up the number of 40% of the crews becoming ill, but I cannot swear on that number. It was kind of a scandal here in the early 90s. there also was one incident with a technician of I thiunk a HAWK battery, again in germany, he was almost grilled when stepping in front of the antenna which was assumed to be switched off. He died short time later.

Microwave ovens transmit at 2.4GHz and at much higher power than mobile phones and thats why it cooks food. The latest 3G phones operate at 2.2GHz but at a tiny fraction of the power that a microwave oven uses. GSM in the UK operates at 900MHz and 1800MHz. If you are worried about microwave radiation it's not just mobile phones you should be worried about. Wi-Fi operates at the same frequency as Microwave ovens (2.4GHz) and Wi-Fi transmitters are appearing in millions of locations around the world e.g. streets, pubs, McDonalds the list goes on. Do you use a Wi-Fi enabled laptop? Personally I'm not worried about it at all, there are far more important things to worry about.

I watch a program on this the other night apparently the cell phone brain cancer is a hoax. Your more likely to get brain cancer from being in the sun to long than from a cell phone. Or in other words impossible. Well according to them. I know one thing i use to get wicked headaches from old CRT monitors.

No doubt if it is ever proven beyond any reasonable doubt, it will be too late for countless numbers of unsuspecting victims and the multi nationals will have already prepared their defence against damages claims.

Radios receive - they do not transmit.
