I'm a vista user but I disabled all those Appearance tweaks. Actually I disable explorer too when it comes to gaming, also any other backround program running. I try to gain as much of system resources as possible.

And thanks also for mentioning ClearType. Hadn't a clue about it and had been grumbling a bit since putting this lcd in. What a difference!
