[REL] SH3 Commander Release 3.0 is now available!
SH3 Commander Release 3.0 is now available!
New features: - New graphical interface - New user guide - Added ability to continue career with new commander - Now transfers crew IN to u-boat as well as out (when realistic crew transfers option is selected) - Added ability to recognise user-added patrol log text and include in Personnel Files - Added link to the FAQ on the TC adjust screen reminding users to read the FAQ first - Added ability to start careers anytime during 1939. For this feature to be available, players must have installed a mod that adds pre-September 1939 start dates - Improved handling of SH3's NULL patrol grid problem. When in port, users will not be able to adjust NULL grids because SH3 will just overwrite it again with NULL. However, if saved in-patrol SH3 Commander will support NULL grid changes in exactly the same way as it supports any other grid change - Personnel File fonts and background image can now be changed through SH3 Commander Options - Replaced hard-coded absolute offsets to binary files with dynamic searching. Note however that offsets will still be required for the randomised and static events files (less chance of ambiguity and confusion) - Removed SS## patrol grid masking providing compatibility with non-gridded theatres - Submarines now included in "Use real ship names" feature - New option: "SH3 Path". Previous /l: switch no longer supported - New option: "Skip intro movies" - New option: "Rollback automatically after exiting SH3" - New option: "Randomise ship tonnage" - New option: "Randomise U-boat crush depth" - Randomised renown linked to randomised tonnage - Personnel File Postings now list each back-and-forth Flotilla transfer - Added rank, medals, badges and qualification graphics to Crew List - Many internal code enhancements There's a bit of work in this one! Screenshots http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/3995/optionsdr5.jpg (I'm sure Mikhayl is getting sick of seeing his careers splashed all over the place!) Installation Before installing SH3 Commander R3.0, you should uninstall your current version. Don't forget to rollback SH3 Commander first and back up any SH3 Commander files that you may have modified (you do not need to backup SH3Cmdr.ini as it will not be touched by either uninstalling or reinstalling SH3 Commander). If you've installed any add-ons, like the GWX2 aircraft markings mod, these will not be uninstalled. Thus, if you install SH3 Commander R3.0 into the same folder as your previous installation, you will not need to reinstall any such add-ons. GWX users: You will need to reinstall the "GWX Cfg 4 SH3Cmdr" files into your new SH3 Commander installation. Please consult your GWX manual for further instructions. However, I recommend not installing 'Ship names.cfg' as SH3 Commander R3.0 includes a more exhaustive list. NYGM users: If I recall there are specific cfg files for NYGM users. Please consult your NYGM manual for further instructions. To download, click here or use SH3 Commander's "Update" feature. As always, please post your questions/feedback/problems to this thread after reading the *new* expanded user guide. **Feel free to post links to this thread in other SH3 related forums. Special thanks to all the testers.  NB: Stop by the SH3 Patrol Log Editor plug-in thread and check out how you can expand SH3Cmdr R3.0 even further! |
Downloading now.

 WOOHOOO great work JScones:up:
Cool it was easy to install I love your new setups and great idea to have the options to remove the game intros! http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...nder3samp1.jpg I had to change the fonts too hard to read on my screen. |

I would like to ask, though, roughly how 'randomised' are the merchant tonnages and crush depths. I don't want to know exactly, or why bother? I just hope I don't sink the Aquitania and find out she only weighed 2000 tons. I presume ahead of time that I won't normally get crushed at periscope depth. Note to self: RTFM!:damn: Quote:

Instant five star thread. This looks really awesome. Thank you.

Crush depth values are randomised between 90% to 100% of the rated value (by this I mean the theoretical value determined by the Germans for each type. I'm not sure whether anyone lived to confirm these figures, LOL!). The boundaries can be changed though if the user so desires. Note my response applies only to the files shipped with SH3 Commander. GWX, for example, has its own version of "Ship displacements.cfg" which includes the Aquitania...default SH3Cmdr does not. |
Thanks, Jaesen, for being so kind, but even as you were writing, so was I. See my 'edit' above.
Oh, and I like your new manual, too. Overall a great piece of work. |
TIP!
<muses> I really should have added a "Tips" page to SH3Cmdr...oh well.
Wolfehunter's screenshot reminded me of something that some of you may find useful. You are not stuck with the date format of ddd, MMM d, yyyy. You can change this easily by editing a line in SH3Cmdr_**.txt: Code:
;Date format Code:
250=ddd d MMM yyyy And so on. |
A very impressive piece of work there JS, thank you. Puts:up:

I just gotta say WOW!!!
Thank you JS :yep: |

I recommend that all XP users turn ClearType font smoothing on, especially those with LCD displays. Vista users need not bother - it's on by default. Check out http://www.microsoft.com/typography/...ClearType.mspx for more info. |
I'm a vista user but I disabled all those Appearance tweaks. Actually I disable explorer too when it comes to gaming, also any other backround program running. I try to gain as much of system resources as possible.;)

 Thx a lot. Just d/l it. Will inform the user in "marinesims" about the new version.
