I've been saying this every time someone complains about the fuel leak and it's been ignored so far, so it's nice to see someone bring it up again

Aye maties, keep a sharp eye on that battery meter ...
If'n ya'll be chargin batteries for longer than a day, you've likely got battery damage. They will only charge to a certain percentage, but since they never reach full charge the AI doesn't know enough to turn the chargers off. Always check! ![]()

Thank you gentlemen for posting (and re-posting) this. I had just never noticed mention of it.
I wonder if this effect figures in to some of the, "I'm 500 nm short of Midway and out of gas" threads. :hmm: Old Dog |

I agree it's a good idea to help players be more aware of the battery. This and not turning back while they still have the fuel remaining they used to get to where they are.

Also I found out
Range @ current speed,& range to end works correctly with battery charging off.

Useful tip, thanks.
So in a nutshell, if batteries are damaged (indicated by not reaching 100% charge over many hours or days) the workaround in-game is to turn off battery charging to achieve max fuel efficiency? |

Shut down the charging if you don't gain any battery after a day or two.

Thanks Donut - I just discovered this last night. Had a running gun duel w/ 4 Marus, took some damage but sank all three. My navigator reported I had plenty of fuel left to make it back to Pearl, but we didn't even make it within 1,000nm of Midway. Found your post this morning - knew my batteries had been damaged, but wish I had thought to check the recharge
