Problem I have is, this is an incontinental bomber. It was my understanding that no US IC bomber could be released to the public in flyable condition due to the threat it posed. This was at least the story with the few B-36s available. Not one can fly nor can they currently ever fly again. Dallas Fort worth historical society tried to restore their example to a flyable condition, until the airforce stated they needed to demilitarize it, what does that mean? Well I thought it meant they removed any and all weapons systems fromt the aircraft. In actuallity it was this along with the dispicable act of pulling the engines off with an f'ing tractor. They litterally ripped the engines and mounts off the wing mounts, thus imparting so much damage to the airframe it will take a whole lot of work to get it to fly again.

So how in the world can a private person be able to purchase a flyable example of a B-52?

Default bad idea

and dont you think that it would scare the cr*p out of any russian monitoring stations when he tried to fly it home! Especially now the russian airforce has resumed unannounced flights into nato airspace.

You can restore anything. So what if a civilian owns a B-52 too. He can fly it, that's fine, but is a single bomber really a threat? Maybe to an under-equipped country, but outsode of that, no! A B-52 is a monster target for a jet jockey to play with. See my video on how quickly a badger bites the dust - I just noticed a tiny blip too when I wasn't even looking for it - 30 seconds later, it is plumeting to the ground!

The point is, I think the US is over-reacting on tearing up its old aircraft.
