Just a note of caution since you said you were adding text. Text is a problem since the skin is one-sided and gets mirrored for the other side. I think it's the port side that gets mirrored so on that side the text will be backwards.

Is there a workaround for this effect?

Logically it's a no go of course. I’ve done a lot of modifications on other games/sims, but I'm fairly new to this sim so I'm not going to say a definitive no until I’ve learned more. If it is possible to add/import new objects into the game then technically one could remap the image maps for the original subs to be double sided, but it's a long shot I think. There is always some invisible hurdle some persistent wizkid has to find and take down. What I can say is that with the current configuration only magic can do the trick.

Personally I limit myself to emblems that can be mirrored and nothing else for the time being, but yeah I wouldn’t mind having the option with two sides so I will keep snooping. I mean as you will quickly discover as you work up your experience with skinning in this sim is that the current setup doesn’t exactly mirror the texture accurately either. I don’t remember the user name, but the one who made the redfin skin visualized it well. The details on the fins were not applied the same way so the person had to reduce the details ending up with plain red fins. Is it “dive planes” they are called? I’m sorry but I’m fairly new to submarines as well. Anyway personally I’ve been drawing lines trying to figure out the exact cut lines so I know how to align certain overlapping elements, and, well, learning to play the game is still more fun so it’s a slow process.
