One thing that drives me mad to no end happens when using the recognition manual. When you press N the manual should do 2 things: first, japanese units should come first! we are not hunting american units, in fact we barelly see them in open seas. Secondly, when we close the manual by pressing N again, the last page visited should remain when we open it again, is very frustrating and time consuming to go back and forth looking for the right ship to retrieve more data.
Opinions are widely accepted ![]() BTW, hi everybody, this site rocks! |

I agree - I hope someone figures this out soon. Using the slide-out manual that Probex posted does help somewhat (in that you can leave the book open to the page you want but still get it out of the way (see this thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=112944 )
However, I still haven't figured out how to get the phantom/invisible background to retract like the rest of the manual, so you still wind up having to close the bokk to get at the controls underneath it and, voila, you're back to the problem of losing your place when you open it back up ![]() There must be a way to do this, and I would think that you should be able to change the order of the sections so it would open up with either Japanese ships or merchants first (and the other one second), but I've only played around some with moving the whole book around on the screen and I don't know the secrets of the inside workings of the book at all. Hopefully, one of the real modding gurus around here will get bored waiting for the patch and will take a crack at this ![]()

There is a quick and simple way to get the recog manual to open directly to Japanese ships.
In the data/roster folder, rename the Japan folder to ' 1 Japan'. In the data/menu/gui/recmanual folder, rename CovJapan.dds to 'Cov1 Japan.dds'. In the same folder, rename CovFlagJapan.dds to 'Cov1 FlagJapan.dds'. (The important thing with these dds files is just to make them match the folder name in data/roster.) That's it. The recog manual countries display in whatever order your data/roster folder names are in, and you can use whatever numbering sequence you'd like if you want to reorder the whole book. |

thanks brig! now that solves the first part of the problem. I hope someone could find a fix to the second part too (making the last page viewed to remain when we open the manual again.)
