Default [REL] Slide-out Recognition Manual Stand Alone Version

Salute everyone!

This is a small mod enabling the Slide-out Recognition Manual only.
I also fixed the TBT not stretching properly; at least for 1280x1024.

1024x768 game resolution users, READ the attached readme !

All credit goes to Ottos, I just repackaged it a bit.

Get it HERE: http://files.filefront.com/Kosh_Slid.../fileinfo.html

All the edited sections in the Menu 1024_768.ini are from [G25 I1] to [G25 I47]

TBT fix is in [G28 I120]
Zone= 0 768 1024 768 2 2 0x28000000 0.5 -0.5 0x28000001 -0.5 0.5 0 0

2 2 used to be 1 1

also, if modding yourself ,

search for "SlidingSpeed=" and change the default 200 to 1000, otherwise the manual will slide out too slowly.

Enjoy!

Bump, before this post drops down too low. Some people may like this option alone.

The three feature mod from which this one is taken, broke the stopwatch for example. It is also important to have the chronometer on the desktop without having to keep the mouse on it.

Very nice Probex. Unfortunately, it makes my mini-chronometer and nomograph no longer function. Any ideas how to have the pull out rec manual with these 2??

thanks.

You have to make a hybrid of the different menu_1026_768.ini files.

Each of the mods you outlined made some changes in the menu_1026_768.ini file, so you need to take all the changes from the individual files and combine them in a single one.

It is probably easier to use mine as the base file and add other sections to it, since mine has the most extensive changes.

There is no pretty way of doing this. It is like a car with different options. Menu_1026_768.ini would be the car, and slide outs, chronos, monographs, would the options.

Have a look at the readme files because many modders explain what sections they have altered. My first post explains what sections have been altered by me.

I'm glad you put this out as a stand-alone. However, I have confirmed that this has the same problem (on my machine anyway) with the scale line not sliding back off the screen that I found with my manual adapttion of the three-dial version (see thread here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...299#post519299 )

I tried this one without my modification to move it up higher on the screen, and sure enough the scale line stayed out on the screen whenever I let the manual slide back left while the book was open to any page.

Any chance you could take a look at the section(s) of your tweaked .ini file that deal with the scale line and figure out why this is happening? I love this mod, but I would like to get the scale line to behave properly.

Thanks for the great work here

I noticed the line, it's just that it didn't bother me. I was just happy to have the manual open when doing my attacks.

The transparency doesn't retract, only the graphics. So the invisible manual stays open and extended even though the graphics hide.

You can open the manual, let it hide, and then click on the empty space and the pages will flip if you find the invisible button.

I didn't really work on this much because I just pulled it out of Otto's mod. Maybe I will look into it though at this point.

Well, as I said in the other thread, I agree that it's a minor annoyance, and well worth putting up with if really necessary in order to have the ability to keep it open to the page I want and move it to where I want it, so I do really appreciate your posting this mod.

Was just hoping maybe it would be a simple fix to get the scale to retract. As an alternative, I don't really care about even having the scale - would it be possible to just delete it entirely if you can't figure out how to make it retract? I tried to just comment out that one section of the .ini file, but I probably should have renumbered the other sections or something 'cause it just crashed with error messages about not finding some menu items or something when I tried that. Do you know how to get rid of the scale entirely?

Bump - so, nobody has been able to find the section dealing with the scale line in the recognition manual so we can get it display correctly on the page and slide back when the book does?

there seems to be another problem.
try this: open the manual and let it slide back in (don't close it).
now try clicking on the part of the screen where you had the manual;you will "see" that it still recognises the manual there; it only became invisible.

Yes, the transparency stays, I am quoting myself below:

Well, I thought I would be able to fix this pesky scale problem. I was able to move it over to the right so it was in basically the right place, but I could not get it to slide back when the others do and I couldn't see anything obviously wrong about any of the lines in that section compared to lines in the sections of the items which do slide back just fine.

So, since I didn't really see any practical use for the scale anyway, I got tired of screwing with it and just moved the scale completely off-screen so it doesn't show up at all - just made the following change to the menu_1024_768.ini file to do this:
[G25 I43]
Zone= 115 122 429 7 0 1 0x25060003 0 -1 0x25060004 0 0 1000 1000

Still bugs me that I can't get this to slide, but at least now I don't have to look at it

Enjoy!

Good riddance and good work. That scale doesn't serve any real purpose.

Well, while I was playing around with this to learn a bit more about how to tweak this file, I determined that you can actually accomplish getting (1) a slide-out recognition manual, (2) moved up to the top of the page, and (3) with the pesky scale removed, with just the following small tweaks to the menu_1024_768.ini file:
[G25 I1]
Zone= 0 768 1024 768 2 1 0x0 0.5 -0.5 0x25000000 -0.5 0.5 -80 435

[G25 I2]
Name=Rec manual
Type=1026;Menu group
ItemID=0x25010000
ParentID=0x25000000
Pos=0,-412,812,276
Zone= 0 356 812 276 0 1 0x25000000 0 -0.536458 0x25010000 0 0 0 0
Color=0xFFFFFFFF
HorizSlide=-710

[G25 I48] (the one where Name=Scale)
Zone= 115 122 477 8 0 1 0x25060003 0 -1 0x25060004 0 0 1000 1000

That's it! The results can be seen in the screenshots below:

Word of warning - these specific numbers only work if you're using 1024x768 resolution - if you're running anything else you'll have to tweak the numbers a bit to get the result you want. Also, I'm using RFB 1.22 as my base, but from the documentation I don't think RFB messed with any of these sections of menu_1024_768.ini. And, of course, if you haven't already you still need to change the sliding speed entry at the beginning of the file, as Probex outlined above, if you want the book to slide out at a reasonable speed.

Thanks for the inspiration Probex I just like the minimalist approach and I thought some folks might be interested in getting this result while having to make fewer changes to the file.

Enjoy!
