Default A bit off topic: which German cities do you know?

Hi all, sorry for posting something slightly off-topic, but I m having an argument with a friend of mine about which German cities are "known" by people around the world. So, if you would be as kind as doing me a favor, could you please simply write down 2-5 cities that IMMEDIATELY and SPONTANEOSLY come to your mind when you think about "German cities I ve heard of/been to/seem to be important"?

Please do not necessarily name those that you know from the SH3 map like eg Wilhelmshaven and Kiel, but name those that you personally and individually have heard about.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE,

Cheers, AS

I studied in the german school here at Valencia, and thus learnt specifically german geography as well as went many times to germany. Cities of germany I think of spontaneusly are those where I have been in those trips. Freiburg, München, Hamburg, Kiel, Lübeck, Stuttgart, Frankfurt....in fact I am more or less much familiar with all the south-west of germany. And would you believe it? Me idiot was some years ago near Laboe and I had no idea of U-995 being there so I missed the visit

I've been to Koln, Aachen, Hamburg and Berlin. Also Munster - but I'm not sure whether that's a city or not without checking... Been through Dresden on the train too.

Only 2-5? I don't know so few.

Berlin, Hamburg, Bonn, Koln, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Baden, Munich, Lahr, Dortmund, Dresden, Leipzig, Halle, Augsburg, Potsdam, Nuremburg, Weimar, Hannover, Stuttgart, Heidelburg, Lubeck, Lunenburg, Magdeburg, Rothenburg, Bayreuth, Nierstein, Oppenheim, Bernkastle, Deidesheim, Koerner...

That's just a few that come quickly to mind. Perhaps some are too small to be considered cities.

There are so many ways to know of a German city: History (military, social and religious), music, wine, people...
