I think 3 and 4 have the best of the WWII sub play covered. I'd like to see them pick a later time period.

Sub vs. Sub anyone? With modern equipment? Come on, that'd be great!

Have some sort of cold war era gone bad senerio. Where the USSR and US are fighting a conventional war over some country they both want to boss around. And while given order to sink surface ships you have to watch out for torps your own self.

I dont think the ubisoft devs would consider WWI an era to make a uboatgame about, not after this:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=94508

http://www.shells-of-fury.de/

This game never got my juices flowing, but it was made on a much smaller budget than IE SHIII..But, there is always room for improvement, and with some advanced TLC to the graphics & some concern for the playability, i dont think its impossible..

Exactly my thinking!
Fantasy campaign with a LOT of sci-fi "a la Tom Clancy" or whatever....
Also very detailed responce command and confirmations with periodic checks and calculations. DW in 3d!

There are already modern sub sims, and there will probably be more. There may also someday be a good WW1 sub sim.

It's a pretty sure bet they won't have the Silent Hunter name on them.

I just don't see it happening, either, for WWI, other than as an expansion pack...which isn't likely come to think of it. I expect if we ever have a SH5 it will move back to the Atlantic again. I'm okay with that.

Is Red Baron still one of the better WWI flight sims? I am not a big flight sim player but I do like WWI aircraft

Considering the progressive trend of war games in general (even though SHIII is an almighty sim) from WWII to Vietnam to War on Terror, I have a feeling that SHV will tend to aim more towards the next naval conflict in the series. There wasnt much around Vietnam (that I am aware of) so I am guessing Cold War would be the next installment. Which means it will either work really well Hunt for Red October style, or sink like bernard playing with the ballast controls.

That would be cool, a random bernard syndrome on board, order 400 feet, you go down to 1750 feet....
Or active ping on silent running....
Better yet fire a torpedo which after a while it turns 180 and sets it for active...
It would be a great potential!!!!!

The bane of the Kreigsmarine - when something goes wrong in the game, its personified as a man/creature that resembles a man called Bernard.

Sort of like the way Silent Hunter IV is now before they fix the bugs, I guess.
