Ok, v0.2 is up. Check the startpost for the link and changelog.
The battle of the Java Sea quick mission is a real resourcehog. I have a fairly beefy computer and it was even brought to it's knees by the mayhem going on. There is a lot, and I mean a LOT of shooting going on right of the bat (2 CA 2 CL 10 DD vs 2 CA 3 CL and 9 DD's to your south and a convoy of +/- 25 ships to your north). This is accurate as both sides fired thousands of shells with in the end only 5 or 6 hits. I don't know the outcome of every battle because of the simulation part in SHIV, the one given I do know is that I gave every ship a poor or novice crew rating (with the exception of the convoy DD's they don't partake in the battle). This is to simulate the fatigued ABDA crews and the Jap's lack of torpedo's. The battle in real life lasted well into the night, but for the sake of the game and your system they'll only fight for about 30 minutes in game. The ABDA will turn tail to Surabaya and the IJN will return to it's merry invasion tour. I've also noticed some strange problems with the range of the cruiser guns; their range seems to be exactly the same as the destroyers. I'm not sure why, but I'll bet someone will figure it out soon enough. For the rest I'll try to figure out a way to get some placeholders for the planes and research some more to make the quick mission more historically correct. |
