Wow. But still, I was totally out of fuel. I got the report from one of the officers stating, "Sir, we're out of diesel." So despite the distance estimate being off...what was I running on?:hmm:

Something tells me those Germans figured out a way to make their engines run on other stuff....

Nice kill!
Ummm, I dunno about the fuel, sounds like your gauge indicates a bit low. Come to my party. Booze, cigars--the works.

No, the out of fuel report comes before you actually run out.

Don't ask.

Ah, I understand. Well of course I don't understand, but I see what you're saying. So my officer is basically a liar. I will be tossing him into the depths on my next patrol. Such insolence will not be tolerated

Next time your in port fix yourself up with a IID for the klein boot. It has saddle tanks and plenty of fuel for coastal patrols.

I'm in December of '39 and still haven't seen any other sub types available. Which is weird because in stock SH3 I swear after my first or second patrol...so October or November, the IID and VII something were choices.

The Officer telling you you're outta gas when you have some left is a SHIII quirk.

No biggie. I strung him up and towed him behind the boat for a hundred kms or so. That'll teach him to give me false information!

I think there's about 24 to 30 hours left after the "no fuel" message, IF you run on "ahead slow".

No like any good officer he was keeping a reserve that he did not tell the commander about.

When I was stationed in Korea about 20+ years ago, I was responsible for a rather valuable resource. My responsibilty was to ensure that we had sufficient quantities of this resource in case of "emergencies" ie war.

So naturally I had a secret reserve. But the more experienced commanders knew that I would have a secret reserve so I had to have a secret secret reserve so when the commander used up not only our overt supply but my secret reserve supply I still had extra in case of a crisis.

Thus is the way of the military. In times of crisis I can't tell my commander "well we are all out because you used all our resources for that upteenth exercise Sir" The only acceptable answer is "Sir, we are all out of the resource.... but I think I know where I can get a hold of more".

Toss your car while you're at it as it most certainly still runs when the indicator passes the empty mark. It's called a reserve

Maybe they got the engines to work on a hybrid notion - what little is left of your diesels combined with the batteries :hmm:

Now that's some advanced German technology.

I still say they just started using alternate fuels. Such as alcohol, grease, or even human waste. Gotta do something with it, why not run the engines off of it? :rotfl:
