Personally i rarely started a career game before 1942. Its just too boring and too easy.

42 and 43 i think are the best times to start. Besides, it takes a LONG time to get through two years of war in sh3, let alone all of them.

I usually start in 1941 but do not make it to far so as a kick off for SH4 I decided to start a later career and well end it really quickly

I frickin' did it! Even got a medium merchant on the way home. Alright it was only 19872 tons but not bad for a first patrol off harwich. OK a first patrol on the seventh time of asking. Was tempted to bag a dutch lightship on the way to push up past the 20000 mark. I even docked old U109. Brought a tear to my eye Now 4 hours sleep and off to work

No parade and no sandwich A bit of abuse though. In fact because I stayed up until 2am playing a game I slept in, was late for work and didn't have time to make a packed lunch and so had the honour of paying 5 quid for some squashed bread posing unconvincingly as a panini
