Great pictures,
I was there last August!
From your pictures of the Pampanito's deck gun, seems that you were there before me.

Little O.T.I'm currently reading "IN HARMS WAY" by Doug Stanton,I'ts the story of the sinking and servival of the men of the USS INDIANAPOLIS which was torpedoed and sunk in the south Pacific by a Japanese sub on July30 1945 after completing a highly secret mission.

All I can say is.....WOW......this is a very powerful book!Have any of you read it?

Nice pics, McBeck!

I have been out there a number of times (used to live by the Bay Area). Was up there about 4 months ago to take my wife on the tour. She was really excited about actually getting the opportunity to go on the sub. It's a nice ship. You really get some nice insight regarding the confines the crew had to deal with while on patrol.

We have the Requin (sp?) here in Pittsburgh that is a Tench class sub. Unfortunately (or not), it is a post war Guppy conversion which look kinda funny. I much prefer the "classic" sail of a wartime Gato/Balao/Tench.

The interiors are neat though.

These pics are from my trip to the US in the summer of 2005.

I went again in December 2006, but just to show for a mug
That is, I was in SF anyway and stopped to pick up a mug.
